This is my favourite Mackem hobby horse of the moment. You’ve got to be a special type of deranged to make up something you know to be completely false, then get yourself wound up about that lie to such an extent that seeing flags at a football match now ruins your week. They get bonus points for making a pigs ear of it every time they try to copy WF too.
  2. Regardless of what the Trust said they would try to do, the club is never protecting points. Lunacy to think that was ever a goer. It shouldn’t have been promised. Why would the club piss off fans who actually pay for STs so people who no longer put a penny into NUFC can be at the front of the queue for away matches? Appreciate people are very protective of what they’ve built up over decades of following the team but that doesn’t entitle them to first dibs on away matches if they no longer go to home games.
  3. Good chance whoever we play will be in FA Cup action in between both legs. Forest are the only other side who got knocked out. City and potentially Wolves have difficult fourth round ties. You wonder how much rotation Man United will do for Reading. Saturday’s result could be a blessing in disguise.
  4. Ditched mine after we nearly went down under Carver. I stuck it out when things looked rosier under Rafa, because it was a point of principle. If anything I should be at the front of the queue if there was to be some sort of ex-ST holder amnesty.

    Guppys have longer memories.

Probably had to drip dry his keyboard after writing this.
  7. It’s all about depth though, isn’t it? If we’re serious about challenging on all fronts over the coming years, and we’re wedded to a high intensity style of play, we need more than a couple of good players. Look at Liverpool’s forward options - they’ve got six or seven players who can slot into that front three.
  8. Likewise. I’ve got so many memories of cup runs going tits and derailing our season (Lisbon/Man United in the space of three days in 2005, Benfica loss followed by a derby thrashing under Pardew) that I’m terrified of history repeating.
  9. I don’t think much of our fans generally but this place is chock full of the most conceited, entitled fuckers that we possess. And it’s only got worse since the takeover.
  10. We’re third in the league you hysterical mess.
  11. I would usually agree with you, but we’ve got a cup quarter final in three days time and we’re in a battle for CL qualification. I want to see us try to win everything, but tonight demonstrated the paucity of options we have beyond our first XI - particularly in midfield. We can’t run the same players into the ground. If we lose one or two of them we’re going to struggle. Manquillo was our best player tonight, so you can give that head a shake too.
  12. Part of me is just happy we didn’t manage to squeak a replay.
  13. I’ve defended Murphy this season but he’s been honking today.
  14. It’s not the playing out that’s been the problem, it’s the aimless passes back when trying to recycle possession.
  15. Lewis and Murphy on that left hand side is going to give me a heart attack
  16. What’s his issue? Is it that the club don’t follow him on Twitter? He’s deleted it now.
  17. I don’t get the clamour to loan him out like. Game’s moved on substantially from minutes on the pitch being the only indicator of progress for a youngster. Look at how Man City dealt with Foden. If he’s that close to a breakthrough then it’s much better for him to train with the first team squad, particularly if there are specific things they want to address, injuries they want to manage or ways in which they want him to play.

I trust the club will have done due diligence over the last few months when it comes to any potential suitors. If he’s off to Hearts it’ll be because they think it’s the best option.

  21. What we did last night was no different to what Leeds did to us on Saturday, or what half the teams at the lower end of the table attempt to do every week. The big difference is we’ve got the quality to really stop teams in their tracks.

Seems to do it every game. Either he’s incredibly fortunate or he has a good understanding of where the line is. Mad that the only penalty he conceded was harsh as fuck.

Calling someone a dry roast is a tremendous insult FWIW.
  24. We weren’t even that bad last night. Very little obvious blatant time wasting. Biggest piece of shithousery came from Lascelles.
