A slight upgrade maybe, and it's certainly refreshing to hear him speak after years of Pardew, but his record isn't significantly better and McClaren seems equally pally with his paymasters already. Put it this way, it wouldn't surprise me if in two or three years time it dawned on people that the McClaren era is just a continuation of the Pardew years. I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me.
