BONTEMPI
The only way to get rid of a manager under Ashley is to give him 100% backing. Fat boy doesn't like that.
sempuki
There's not been 1 single report since yesterday's game questioning McClaren's future or any potential change in that position in the media. At least none that I'm aware of. Article from Chris Waugh in the Chronicle does. Only that one though I think.
nufc4eva
I don't think they will sack him in next 2 games. Shocking really as we could be 2nd bottom and 6 adrift by time we play at home again. Let's be honest we will probably lose by 3 against Stoke. huss9
only villa are guaranteed to go down. can see us finishing above Norwich but not sunderland. the rest are too far ahead for us to catch. mcclaren needs to go but I think it's too late to affect this season. he needs sacking just for getting us into this position. doesn't matter who comes in as we'll still have the remnants of a squad good enough to get us promoted again. I want him gone because he's shit not because it will save our season.
TK-421
One thing this regime wont be, is pressured into decisions by fans and/or media. So its probably a good thing that the crowd and press aren't calling for his head. Ashley's probably more likely to do it, if he thinks eveyones happy, sorry, content with Schteve. mighty__mag
From the Chronicle: McClaren looked a beaten man as he prowled the touchline during the closing stages, and you have to wonder if his days are numbered. There’s an 18-day gap now before United play again - the perfect time to make a change, perhaps? http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steve-mcclaren-given-more-time-10890823 Quick to change it round. Those bellends will write anything. Ashley needs to choose now. Gamble, or lose most of the recent investment and the incoming TV revenue. Its really that simple for him. If he has seriously stepped away from footballing matters like he claims, then Charnley & Co are running a big big risk with McClaren.
midds
Firmly believe Ashley will do anything and everything to avoid going down. He's been forced to throw £80m at the squad, hire a new manager and coaching staff and relegation looks odds on at this stage. Away games are basically a write-off and the only thing he can possibly do to avoid relegation is bin McClaren, I don't think he particularly wants to and he'd much rather muddle along but here we are. Ashley's now staring down the barrel and I think he'll sack him out of sheer desperation and greed as we sink lower and lower.
Disco
Genuinely think the main reason they won't sack him is because they'be run out patsys assuming Beardsley isn't interested.
nufcjb
Gut feeling is when we're desperate and down, Ashley will bite the bullet and sack McClaren but it won't be now which is a shame but that's how Ashley is.
Big Geordie
Ashley will panic at some point, but as with the appointment of Shearer back in 2009 - it will come too late. He still pulls all the strings at this football club - make no mistake. Charnley is just his latest Pardew (front man)
astraguy
Couldn't we at least get a twitter hash tag going? Could force the media/motd2 to talk #savenufc18days
Guest chopey
We need a Keegan type manager to come in at this late stage and inspire the team to victories I don't think there is anyone out there to do that
Big Geordie
We need a Keegan type manager to come in at this late stage and inspire the team to victories I don't think there is anyone out there to do that Bar Keegan who would never come back, whilst Ashley is in charge. I suggested it last night among my mates on FB, and was laughed at.
nufcjb
Keegan then. But I'm afraid he has been away too long to get to grips with how the game is now.
Guest chopey
That's what everyone said the last two times
Guest Hog
That's what everyone said the last two times Yep, and they're still right. The amusing thing for me is that if a miracle happened and Ashley managed to get Kev back it would give Ashley the chance to repair his relationship with the fans once and for all. Personally I could forgive him all of his mistakes as owner, it's his treatment of Keegan and how it ended last time that makes me unable to fully take him in to the fold of our club as it stands. mighty__mag
Keegan is a none starter. Shelve the past.
Guest Hog
Keegan is a none starter. Shelve the past. I don't doubt it, it's a fantasy really but he is exactly what this club has needed for a very long time. It's just a shame that he will never get the chance again. AyeDubbleYoo
Presumably Keegan doesn't want to manage any more, or he would've gone somewhere else.
Big Geordie
Keegan then. But I'm afraid he has been away too long to get to grips with how the game is now. Don't believe that. Remember, football is a simple game made complicated by fools like McClaren.
Mattoon
Trouble is Keegan is one of a kind where Newcastle United are concerned, he was literally the perfect fitting glove, it'll always feel like he has unfinished business here and that's what's frustrating. Rocker
He needs to go. We're an absolute shambles and it's clear that away from home, the players turn up knowing they'll get beat. Our mentality for away games is a major concern, something which has been going on for years. I can't remember going into an away game with any sort of confidence. Hughesy
What's ridiculous in keeping McClaren is that even if he keeps us up.. Does anyone think it's going to be any different next season?
Wallace
If McClaren is to go it will be down to Ashley - there is no way that Charnley will sack him. The Chronicle only know what those at the club tell them and none of them will have a clue on what Ashley will do next. And even if Ashley is saying one thing, he is just as likely to do the opposite.
Disco
The Wongees will only start to get angry after the Sunderland match so he's got 3 more fairly pressureless games before then even if one is against AFCB.
