mouldy_uk
Ashleys an intelligent man and it doesn't take a whole lot to figure out that we have no chance of staying up with McClaren. Perhaps he should take it by the balls himself and cut out the middle men for once. He's going to lose an awful lot of money if he doesn't. That may be true in the business world, but I've seen no evidence of it when it comes to football.
Hanshithispantz
I don't see why? We'll probably be better with a caretaker in charge.
TRon
I don't see why? We'll probably be better with a caretaker in charge. Only if we were going to need a caretaker for a few weeks while we shop around for a new manager. Far better to open talks with a proper candidate and get him in instead of the caretaker. nufcjmc
I don't see why we cant sack him, let the other staff take over and see if we can get someone else in permanent or temp. It may still work out better if the coaching staff have had good ideas he has dismissed. Cannot be any worse.
BlueStar
"Business as usual" is usually a phrase meant to reassure, unfortunately our usual business is the business of spiraling chaotically towards footballing disaster and financial ruin.

He's a dead man walking so it's best to just get shot now. Clean break until we get the next sorry soul in.

Robster
As LH mentioned earlier, the mood and atmosphere during training must be absolutely rank. I guess having demoralised and demotivated staff is what Mike Ashley is good at.

LV
People clueless about the football business running a football club. That's just it though. It's not a football club, it's an advertising arm of his business.
ToonTastic
Swansea and Palace did okay with caretaker managers. To be fair our caretaker could be Ian Cathro as he's assistant isn't it ? Players will probably have more respect for him.
Parky
....the sad thing is that it isn't rocket science to put a structure in place that gives continuity and diligence in decision making. If Ashely as he pretends doesn't want to do the day to day then a 5 man board with good football and business backgrounds would be the bare essentials to deliver a strategy. What we have is a jumped up scout and an ex-admin bloke making complex decisions they probably have little clue about.
ToonTastic
If he's still here and loses the derby it's gonna get really ugly Heard this so so many times, noubt changes.
ToonTastic
The express reckon there will be a final board meeting tomorrow to decide, as Ashley and Charnley are still reluctant to sack him. Is there any reason we're suddenly giving The Express any relevance in their ability to be ITK? I didn't realise they had a good record.
Ronaldo
If he's still here and loses the derby it's gonna get really ugly Heard this so so many times, noubt changes. And I've heard stuff like this too many times in recent days, too. We're 19th, a mile off 16th and playing progressively worse. We've never been in a situation as bad as this with 10 games left. thenige
Can anyone actually remember the last time we made an appointment they were particularly happy with? Or appointed a manager who wasn't on the way down in terms of their career rather than up before joining us?

He could deliver that and still make money out of the club at the same time and also it would keep the fans happy. It's so obvious that I'm convinced he purposefully doesn't do it because he enjoys making us suffer.

People always say there is no way back for Ashley and whilst he continues on the route he keeps going down there isnt but there is a way back if he changes and this is it, especially now the club has excess cash they can spend over the course of a season. This setup would work and at least allow a bit of common sense.

I thought I had actually got Ashley all wrong.
