Syrette
Surely in the top 5 worst players we've had since we got into the Premiership all them years ago.
wyn davies
another rubbish display by a very poor player who cannot perform and will not help to pull us out of the sh*t followign todays other results
Dave
Thing is if Smith wasn't dropped after the Man Utd game, why would he be dropped after today? Expect him to play the next match tbh.
Fugazi
I forgot he was playing, such was his ineffectiveness. Even the most simple of passes seems beyond him.
Karjala
MUST be dropped for Brum. MUST be. If not, that clause HAS to be correct, and Allardyce is an even bigger cunt than i thought.
Wullie
£6m. Incredible. What's most incredible is everyone, well not quite everyone but he's ran off with his tail between his legs, knew Smith was a woefully inadequate footballer when we signed him. And we still spent that on him.
gray
so if there is this mad clause, so what if he doesnt play - will he get a free transfer or something?
Ally
GASH GASH GASH Him and Nicky Butt are abortions of footballers.
Decky
What can we do to let KK know we are sick to death of Smith and NEVER want to see him play for us again. That we dont give a fuck how honest and committed he is, we just DONT GIVE A FUCK. OUT!
thomas
so if there is this mad clause, so what if he doesnt play - will he get a free transfer or something? Contract is until 2012. 4 more years of it? Does it bear thinking about? What's he on, 50k a week?. at 40 paid weeks and 4 more years that's 50k * 160 or £8m. if 50,000 fans all donated £160 we could see if Mike Ashley would listen to offers to buy out his contract. I'm down for it.

Dr. Nguyen Van Falk
Almost makes the blow of potential relegation easier to take knowing cunts like Smith would be off.
Shearergol
Almost makes the blow of potential relegation easier to take knowing cunts like Smith would be off. I reckon he'd make a good championship player tbh
tgarve
Almost makes the blow of potential relegation easier to take knowing c***s like Smith would be off. I reckon he'd make a good championship player tbh he has looked finished since his injury i would have taken him for 6mill 5 years ago but now he looks like a wigan/birmingham/ chapionship player
ElDiablo
"Any-one, But Alan Smith" (to the tune of taking the piss) should be sung at every game from now on till he gets dropped.
Guest sittingontheball
I reckon Butt would be all right alongside a playmaker. Trouble is Smith gives it to him to do something, and then trots off nowhere in particular. If Butt just had to break up play, he'd serve a purpose. What is incredible is that Smith's a forward, but makes no impact going forward from midfield. GIVE HIM TO LEEDS.
Tachikoma
"Any-one, But Alan Smith" (to the tune of taking the piss) should be sung at every game from now on till he gets dropped. :slowclap: :ken:
oldtype
I'm going to throw up if Smith starts ahead of Oba again next week. Surely Keegan can't be THAT near-sighted.
Trev
I'm starting to believe all this clause in his contract shite. I can't think of any other reason why he continually gets a game.
Northern Monkey
Smith is average. Not as bad as some of you make out. Depends what you mean by average. He's not a Premiership player in a month of Sundays. I actually think he's a better-than-average player considering his work rate, physicality, decent all-around technique etc. Purely based on aggregate individual ability he's probably better than the average Premiership player. He just doesn't have a position. He can't play as a striker because Ferguson's failed experiment and a career-threatening injury completely ruined his goal-scoring instinct, can't play as an attacking midfielder because he doesn't have the vision, and can't play as a hard-tackling defensive midfielder because he was never properly programmed with the requisite defensive skillset. If he wants to be a valuable asset to any Premiership side, his best bet is to stay at Striker and train intensively in shooting so he can get that spark back. For now, he's a classic example of "jack of all trades, master of none." so very, very full of shit.

For now, he's a classic example of "jack of all trades, master of none." so very, very full of s***. Let me rephrase that. His goal-scoring ability/First touch in front of goal is better than that of the average midfielder. His passing ability/vision/defensive instinct is better than that of the average striker. So aggregating everything, he's better than average. Unfortunately, when you look at those abilities individually none of them are good enough to excel in their respective positions. And before you say how that's "meaningless because he's still s***," I'm not implying that he's good or anything. Just that it's kind of unfortunate because he's been f***** over developmentally. Let me pull one from the NE5 playbook. " mackems.gif"
Zero
How about Ashley personally involved in team selection?
Northern Monkey
fucked over developmentally??? HE'S SHITE!!! He's a shite midfielder, a shite forward, and shite footballer. He can fuck off, the sooner the better.
