We had a go and failed (although we finished much closer to it than you last season)

nobody gives a toss about the league cup anymore so crowing about winning it makes you sound like a Boro fan or something ie small time. Can you ever imagine an Arsenan fan giving it large about 'winning trophies' whilst referring to the league cup, for example.

Spurs transfer dealings are hilarious every single summer, mate. The entire rest of the country is as one on that.

I love the way you go on about breaking the top four as if you actually have done ( Spurs all talk no substance, right there)  and then mention everton as having done it - thereby supporting my suggestion that everton are more of a worry than Spurs.

I think Ferguson might just have won his last title as Man U boss

Ribery, move Rooney up front.

Still a hell of a team.

True. But Chelsea were only 7 points off Man U last season, they'll improve next season. If Liverpool can keep Gerrard and Torres together all season plus bring in a couple of players they'll be the favourites for me tbh.

Were only?  7 points is huge imo.  If we had 7 more points we would of finished midtable.

we would have finished 13th, and obviously 7 points means more at bottom end of the table than it does at the top.

7 points is 2 wins and a draw, which i'm confident Chelsea would have easily achieved had they had Drogba fit all season. Or if they'd had Hiddink all season for that matter.

Are people seriously suggesting that Man Utd won't win the title just because they won't get someone as good as Ronaldo?

Get Ribery, Benzema, or both and I think they'll still win the title. The thought of what possibly the best manager in modern history can do with all that Ronaldo money is frightening tbh.

Maybe he can re-sign Kleberson.

Very unlikely imo.. Uncle Carlo will be off quicker than Gene Hackman

Aye but Ribery is as good as off to Madrid and Benzema isn't leaving Lyon until after the world cup. They'll probably pull something out of the bag but the only player they look like signing is Valencia

They'll still be up there though, I'm just hoping it leads to a closer title race.

This.

Ferguson isn't very good in the transfer market IMO, he's bought more **** than most over the years and at high prices.

Veron anyone?

There has got to be someone more proven than Benzema fro Man Utd. Don't get me wrong, he's a highly talented youngster but surely there's a more proven goalscorer out there, now money is not a limit (not that it ever has been with them).

EDIT: In fact Eto'o to Man Utd would be a better shout and as i mentioned earlier it wouldn't surprise if they re-signed Rossi this summer.

Fair point, I just think there's been an overreaction to the imminent departure of Ronaldo. Important player but certainly not irreplaceable.

I do agree with that, I honestly think it might benefit them in the long run if Rooney becomes the focal point and gets back to his best.

I also think people will be surprised by how well Nani and Anderson will do this year both players have the potential to be excellent.

As well as a crop of good youngsters, Macheda, Wellbeck, Frazer Campbell etc.

That's what you call "having a go"?. Half a season then giving up like spineless cowards?. I correctly predicted on here that you'd give up and Everton will for sure finish above you (this was when you were ahead of Arsenal). In 05 we actually had a go and lost out on the final day, that's what you call having a go, not your pathetic excuse of giving it a go where you finish a whole 10 points behind 4th and even bottle 5th place.

"Nobody give a toss about the League cup". Right i'm sure you'd feel that way if your own team even came close to winning it . Sadly you can't even do that, instead you get jizzed on by lower league teams at home. I sound small time? who gives a fuck. I'd rather sound small time and get happy winning the league cup then sound arrogant depite my team not doing anything worthwhile for years and years.

As i've said before, OUR TRANSFER POLICY HAS BEEN RIDICULOUS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. Can you read that? shall i say it again for you? ok i will....OUR TRANSFER POLICY HAS BEEN RIDICULOUS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS...IT'S FLAWED. I do think that our january activity was very good though, and i'll say again that your transfer policy is also not very good at all. You just avoid criticsm because no one actually expects you to pull off anything worthwhile.

Oh look Villa have signed Luke young

Oh look Villa have signed Nicky Shorey

Oh look Villa have signed Curtis Davies

Oh look Villa have signed James Milner

Oh look Villa have signed Marlon Harewood

Oh look Villa have signed Nigel Reo Coker

Oh look Villa have signed Emile Heskey

Filling up squads with mediocre players will see you never do anything of note imo. The fact that Curtis Davies cost roughly the same amount as Berbatov (Milner actually cost more) says it all about your boring ass transfer policy.

There you go, perfect example of why Spurs are so laughable, not stopping to think about how those players have performed, but having a laugh at the fact they don't have fancy foreign names?

I judge on how the players do, myself.

Of that list, Davies has been called up to the national team this year, as has Milner, Heskey starts for the national side, Luke Young has been brilliant for us all season, probably our most consistent player (talking of which, how did that really expensive Scottish full back you signed last year do for you? Or that Welsh one?)

As for Reo-Coker, I wouldn't be taking the piss on him, mate, as strong rumour has it he's signing for you next week (bit of a comedown from Robben, Huntelaar and co, but needs must).

As for "giving up like spineless cowards", we ran out of steam, not having a strong enough squad. That's not quite the same as "giving up".

As for

I sound small time? who gives a fuck. I'd rather sound small time and get happy winning the league cup then sound arrogant depite my team not doing anything worthwhile for years and years.

Mate, your team has done nothing worthwhile for years and years. That's the Spurs delusion, right there, that is exactly my point.

Still, I'll leave you to pull your "Glory Glory 2008 League Cup Winners" bedspread over your head and pretend things are different.
