Good Times

One of the few things this club has done with any class in recent times. Fantastic night. Even had Ant and Dec man.

It was Ant & Dec's idea to hand out the free scarves wasn't it? Seem to remember reading that somewhere.

Never heard that myself!

Was immense when that bird was singing "Time to say goodbye" and the whole ground had their scarves up like Parkhead on a big European night.

I was in the Leazes and the Gallowgate looked beautiful, stunning, any word you want to describe it.

well, you know what you can do with that bollocks as well

6 years ago today. Can't believe it was so long ago.

Yep, and Tony Hibbert still gets into our team.

One of the greatest goals I can remember in my lifetime being scored against us.

Iirc, didn't Bellamy get the winner after about 58 deflections?

One way or another, our games always seem to provide entertainment.

Indeed he did get the winner. I remember saying to my dad before that goal that it would take something special to beat Richard Wright.

Those were the days  mackems.gif

I think we had about 6 1-0 wins in a row before that game as well, I think Super Kevin Campbell put us ahead here. Could have been 7.

Before Shearer's tap in.

7-1 Tottenham

5-0 Man U

8-0 Sheffield

Now I'd be over the moon with a 2-0 win over Stoke, how we have fallen :(

And fuck it, I miss Shearer... a lot.

Over on Toontastic there is a Shearer Compilation (A TwoJ one I think).

You'll miss him even more after watching it!

Every one of our last 5 league matches against Spurs have been amazing.

I think it's been something like 3-1, 3-1, 3-2, 3-1, 4-1. And I remember screaming my throat out for every single one of them.

The link-up leading up to the Bowyer Goal, Parker somehow splooshing it into the back of the net, Huntington's goal and Oba's screamer, Oba tearing Dawson a new one, and of course, the pure euphoria that was the 4-1.

We've had our laugh at Sunderland, but to be completely honest, if the club came out tomorrow with a "Newcastle v. Tottenham, 2005-2008 compilation," I'd probably buy it.

Why? I find the hatred of Tottenham on this board a bit daft tbh. Seems a bit small time.

Cracking thread though, brings back some great memories, some not even 5 years ago ffs. Depressing.

I personally don't care that it's Tottenham, it's just that they were all amazing matches and they all happened to be against the same team.

Ive never been to a game like it, f***ing brilliant, was close to tears at one point after the game when that bird was singing.  Brilliant night becasue it was so unexpected.  We were s*** at the time, a terrible season, and I think the general feeling people had was that they were only going along becasue they felt they 'had' to.

I was blown away by the night and can still remember how I felt on top of the world the next day at work, I was f***ing buzzing for days afterwards.  It wasnt even a proper game and it had a pantomime ending but the night just reaffirmed why the bloody hell I love this club. So emotional, there was Geordie magic in the air that night.

Wasn't there myself (long journey from Florida) but two Christmas ago my girlfriend got me a scarf from it.  Brilliant.
