Guest bimpy474
Dalglish placed his entire tenure and reputation on Carroll. He ended up falling largely because of Carroll's failure. It was his systematic demolition of NUFC teams finally biting him square on the arse. That is one thing that you must be thankful to Carroll for. I think Carroll's failure was Dalglish's fault, he played all kinds of formation and tactics, yet none of them suited Carroll, he virtually never played Downing in the same game, the only winger he had, not even on the pitch when you have a striker who needs crosses. The genius of KKK, too right what he did to us came back to bite him on the arse, then again i always thought he was a absolute useless cunt of a manager and person to boot. Tooj
Totally different comparing Beardsley who is the best player I've ever seen in a Newcastle shirt to Carroll though.
Mole_Toonfan
Maybe because De Jong has a much higher ceiling than Carroll, actually can play in more than 1 position and actually fits the system we want to play
ponsaelius
Beardsley is one of a kind, Carroll is pound a penny. That is the difference. We can get better. Much better, as we've already proven in the 18 months since.

Jack Flash
Plus Beardsley perfectly complimented what we had at the time, which is why we bought him. Carroll would only confuse the issue.
Guest Recoba
Maybe because De Jong has a much higher ceiling than Carroll, actually can play in more than 1 position and actually fits the system we want to play De Jong also has a much deeper floor. Unknown whether would thrive outside Holland. I appreciate our style of play has moved on, but if Carroll is available for a knock down fee you can be sure Mike and Dezza will be sniffing around. toontownman
Odd quotes from Pards.. maybe we retain an interest... or maybe we have a 1st option? Can`t see the point of him coming here for a year, will he get games...yes, but he needs to be a starter wherever he goes and I can`t see him working with Cisse. "There is a lot of talk about players when new managers go in and their situations get all cloudy," he told Sky Sports News HD. "I don't think that's completely resolved, one way or the other. I wouldn't really like to comment. "He did an absolutely terrific job here. I have always supported him while he has been at Liverpool when other people weren't. I thought he got a bit of a raw deal, if I'm honest. "I think he's going to be a great player, but where he treads the boards, so to speak, we will have to wait and see." http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/7889226/Pardew-swerves-Carroll-talk? MyPalAl
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/mobile/football/18794865 sure as s***, Gold pipes up. Id take him back for £10 million if he took a pay cut. Move Cisse out on the wing then? Can't see where Carrol would play We need a squad, more than just a first XI. Not every player, like Cisse, will play every game. Even if Ba stays, I do not see us offering him the contract he wants, so I reckon Ba will be gone within the two years he has left. Other than that we just have Shola. Carroll is still young, our other strikers are all at least five years older. If we would offer £10 million plus a £40-50K per week contract to De Jong I do not see why we could not do the same for Carroll. If Liverpool do want rid he will be like an Adabayor on wages too high for anyone to match and probably unwilling to drop to a lower salary. Appreciate he is a Judas to many, but we brought Beardsley back from Liverpool and that worked out fine for everyone. I just reckon if he is willing to take a lower salary, and Liverpool are happy to write off a huge loss, we should try and take advantage. There would be opposition aye, but if he was to score a few goals wearing number 8 people will love him again. Cant see Carroll coming back though. Comparing Beardsley to Carroll? Tooj
Also you have the fact that Beardsley never drank as a player. Despite the obvious gulf in ability compare that to Carroll's off the pitch lifestyle.

Guest Recoba
Beardsley was a great player, but not a great man. His dad was still working as a truck driver for ramage after Beardsleys testimonial. The testimonial he kept all the proceeds from after having it written into his contract despite not playing for the club for ten years. By all accounts as tight as a badgers arse. Big Geordie
Playing devil's advocate a bit here, but Beardsley never enjoyed the kind of wages that footballer's get in recent years. Am nearly sure John Anderson and Kenny Wharton did the same, when they had their testimonials and they were both great servants to NUFC as well (went to both of theirs)
Cronky
In fairness to Pardew, he can't say he wouldn't be interested in taking on Carroll because that would be portrayed in the media as a put-down for the player. All he can do is duck the question. Rodgers has handled the situation badly. There was no point in saying anything other than he admired the player and he was looking forward to working with him. What goes on behind the scenes is a different matter.

jdckelly
It makes fuck all sense on a financial and even playing basis, just to throw him out before Rogers has even given him a chance (or he's even back in training possibly) is bloody madness and theres no way they'll recoup even half of what they paid. However it does indicate the yanks aren't giving Rogers anywhere near the same amount of cash and if he wants to spend he needs to sell a few and obviously hoping a reasonable Euro's might bump up his value a bit to get him more cash to spend

He never wanted any publicity out of it, quite the opposite in fact! anyway, football’s a short career for most and the Sky money hasn’t always been around. Hardly a put down to rule it out imo, we bought Ba and Cisse who are our main strikers, if we are playing the put down game not deny interest puts as much of a question mark on Ba and Cisse than ruling it out. Who cares about the media spin on Carrols feelings? He isn't our player anymore.

Guest Howaythetoon
There is more to Carroll than on the pitch matters for LFC, it is his off pitch lifestyle that concerns them and it is well known that he doesn't lead the kind of lifestyle an athlete should. If he could sing and play guitar he'd make a great rock star, he is a professional footballer though has to be the consumate athlete which he is not and never will be unless he ditches the drink, late nights, unhealthy food and tabs... alegedley. Guest antz1uk
I don't want him back at all but it would be great if we bought him for £10m, built up his reputation again then sold him on for a profit, Liverpool would be fuming and I'd be ecstatic
