AyeDubbleYoo
So has Rodgers totally u-turned on this then? I though he had basically written off Carroll at Liverpool.
Chris_R
My problem with signing Carroll isn't the fee, but the wages. If he comes back on £40k, fair enough. But there's no way we should look to get anywhere near his alleged £80k/week Liverpool salary. And I'd only be happy with a loan if it included an option to buy at a set price, and knowing in advance that he'd agree to the wages we were offering. Jack Flash
So has Rodgers totally u-turned on this then? I though he had basically written off Carroll at Liverpool. Damage control. He's very quickly realising he's not at little old Swansea anymore.

Cronky
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-news-andy-carroll-1148442 Andy Carroll wants to thrash out his future next week. The big Liverpool striker knows he will be have to leave Anfield if he wants to play regular games, after new manager Brendan Rodgers made clear he does not figure in his first-team plans. England international Carroll’s advisors have now spoken to the Reds boss and been told the 23-year-old can go if the right offer comes in. Initially, Carroll was advised he would be able to go out on loan but, after a proposal from Newcastle at the weekend, Rodgers has now seemed to rule that prospect out. It has left Carroll in limbo. He has maintained throughout the summer that he doesn’t want to leave Liverpool, and this week reiterated his stance by insisting that if he is forced out, then he will ONLY accept a loan move in the short term. Newcastle offered just such an arrangement when they made contact with Liverpool officials, but couldn’t get near the striker’s £80,000 a week wages, so asked the Merseyside club to pay a large chunk of his salary. That idea was turned down flat, leaving the striker to face showdown talks next week when he returns from a post-Euro 2012 holiday. The centre-forward was due to travel to Boston to join with the Reds squad on their North American pre-season tour, but that journey may be put on hold as his future is thrashed out. Rodgers believes a loan spell may prove valuable to both Liverpool and Carroll and would prefer to farm the big Geordie out to AC Milan, who have expressed a strong interest and this week sold star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Paris Saint-Germain. If the Milan loan doesn’t happen, the Reds want to sell him. They would demand a fee of around £20million, which would leave them facing a loss of more than £15m in less than 18 months. Carroll though, will make clear his determination to either stay at Anfield or go out on loan - and that he would prefer any loan to be to hometown club Newcastle, despite the failure to secure an agreement between the two clubs. Nowt new really. Sounds like they'd consider a loan if he was going abroad. It makes no sense to lend him out to a rival club.
ExiledGeordie
The combination of Rodgers making it so obvious publicly that he doesn't want Carroll combined with our offer which was made plainly public has really forced this issue now. Rodgers has made a rod for his own back because if he's that insistant that he wants rid, there's simply no way they're going to get 20m, it's ridiculous. He's basically said he's not going to play so then why keep an unhappy player if you're going to hold out for 20m?........nobody is going to pay 20m, ffs, lol

huss9
“I’ve spoken to Andy – I made the time to speak to all the players either verbally or through texts – so the communication is there." how unprofessional is that for a new manager - if you can text , you can just as easily dial the number and try speaking. Dave
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/mobile/football/18896710 Liverpool will not allow Andy Carroll to leave on loan, but will sell the striker should they receive an offer in the region of £20m. Newcastle are weighing up their next move for the 23-year-old, having had an initial bid turned down. Manager Brendan Rodgers says all "worthwhile" offers will be considered. Despite being against a straight loan, a temporary deal that included a fixed and acceptable future sale figure could still be agreed. http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj203/Skoalbandit77/2ccv4ac.gif

Ketsbaia
Hopefully that scares us off. Ashley's attempts to sign him were just an excuse to wave his dick and go "Look at me, look at me. Over £20m profit". But a £20m fee would definitely not do that.
