Personally don't think he's ready yet Don't even think Lambert is ready for the abuse he is going to get let alone Carroll.
Stuy_O
I think the current youngsters are better than the Chopra-era ones. Pattison, Ramage and Edgar were always deeply average. Ramage was not the best player but seemed a decent lad, not full of himself like most our players were back then. His last game (Everton away iirc) , he was absolutely heartbroken knowing he was leaving.
brummie
Absolutely love reading brummie's posts about Villa, like. One of the best things about this forum at the moment, they're class. That's very nice of you. Others are right, though, I had forgotten this was in the Carroll thread, so apols for derailment.
Robster
If you played Stoke at home, and were winning 1-0, only to concede an equaliser on 84 mins or so, and at the final whistle, you saw your manager do a little celebratory fist pump, how would you feel? In fact, how would supporters of ANY club feel? Sorry for laughing Brummie but that's just incredible

Guest BooBoo
And ignore Otter, he just likes complaining about things. I think it's a valid point tbh. How many times do you click on this thread or countless others expecting maybe thread transfer news or relevant discussion, only to find its gone off on a massive tangent. It just messes up the board IMO. If people want to talk about Aston Villa, why not have an Aston Villa thread?

Guest BooBoo
Anyone coming in from work tonight clicks on board and might think "wow, 3 new pages on the Carroll thread. Maybe a development in his transfer? Oh, just a critique of Alex McLeish's dismal year at Villa."

Don't think it does any harm personally but I can understand your point of view, fair enough.

colinmk
Future's bright for Villa with Lambert for sure(as long as he is given the time he needs of course), Savage is an idiot.

All the other threads I don't think it's a big deal since the mods are good about updating the title if something is happening.
Guest BooBoo
I actually think the problem is that there are not enough threads. If you look through the archives the board used to have far more threads. How many on average new threads get created every day on the football page? 2 or 3? The traffic though is still heavy and people post any old stuff in any thread. Whilst we don't want to go to RTG standards in terms of tens of threads an hour, it does seem that now people don't want to create any new ones. Genuine points here btw, not trolling. gbandit
Personally don't have a problem with any thread being derailed as long as it's buy decent debate. No thread gets derailed for more than 3-4 pages anyway. The worst thing though is when there are three-four pages of puns, wouldn't mind that being outlawed
jdckelly
Perhaps as the Villa debate and brummies posts in particular we should have a Villa thread to discuss it? it does come up a lot
