Nothing personal.  ITK's are 10 a penny these days, so it's difficult to take anyone who hasn't got a good track record seriously.

Fair enough. The deal is done so to NUFC it's irrelevant. However I've been on this site for near on 5 years and never posted a ITK. Take it as you will.

Kick in the bollocks, like. It's a joke that we literally can't compete with most of the Premier League in the transfer market despite having one of the largest turnovers. West Ham, ffs.

Paying £5m for a year's loan fee is an act of desperation on there part.

Not saying it's a wise move on their part. It's just sad that clubs like Fulham, West Ham and Reading are demonstrating more ambition than us.

I agree about the ambition part totally, just think West Ham have totally panicked.

It's not really a striker they needed if their last performance was to go by IMO.

Im not 'meh' at all. Infact i'm quite disappointed.

Carroll moving here on loan with a view to permanent was a perfect situation for me. We're dreadfully short up front; having lost Best and Lovenkrands. We've got 3 Premier league strikers one of which is Shola; who despite how much I love the bloke for his derby day antics and cult hero image, isnt good enough to be starting for us on a regular basis. Cisse and Ba, although they didn't seem to form any sign of a partnership at the end of last season are more than than capable but potentially disappear for a period come the end of January.

He'd be an extra body and give us an extra option up top, he's obviously got talent and openly wanted to come here. A loan move move would have gave us the flexibility of not having to tie him down to a contract, and the possibility to sign him permanently up if he rediscovers his from his time here and to a degree the end of last season.

Do were we in for him and Liverpool refused to deal with us or did we just not bother at all?

They aren't. They are paying over the odds just to stay up. West Ham will achieve fuck all this season but they've bought enough goals to avoid relegation.

As opposed to us, who sold our only PL standard striker in the January transfer window during our first season back?

It's relentless, this nonsense.

Thats not really a great example of a poor move on our behalf is it given the long term result.

Which long term result? The £35m still hasn't been spent.

You already know the point being made, half our first team exists due to selling Carroll. You cant use the sale as an example of lack of ambition when we've used it to further our success.

We have? There's just as much ammunition to argue that our success is in spite of our 'business model'.

I honestly think the only signing we got from the Carroll deal was Cisse.

This still annoys the fuck out of me. How can we not dip into that money for a few signings. Tottenham get £33m (reportedly) for modric and look like they are trying to reinvest all of it into the team.

In what possible way? I dont really see how we could have sorted our finances & improved ourselves on the pitch massively much more efficiently atall since we sold Carroll.

Because we lived beyond our means for a decade and it nearly wiped us out.

Why didnt they just say that then instead of saying all of it would be reinvested in the team around the time of the sale?
