Ryan Taylor will do the simple things and generally play safe, sometimes a manager will prefer that to a maverick who will break up the team shape and momentum. I can understand that, but at the end of the day you could say the same about Perch in central midfield, but it doesn't make him a good central midfielder. It's the other players in the team who will win or lose the game, Taylor will be there in a support role mostly.

We haven't had balance all season man...and Raylor does not provide that. Lots of hard graft (commendable) and a chance of a decent free kick. Nice professional bloke but if good football was about that then we'd have a first 11 of mediocre players. He's even ropier at the back. Like I said nice chap; like him but hes a professional squad player to me.

Balance - for me, is something we have had all season, hence the fact we're on the verge of finishing fourth.

 

Teams without balance wouldn't be where we are currently, unless there was a distinct lack of effort, team spirit, determination or ability. The first three we have in abundance, ability is the area where we don't match the remainder of the top 7.

 

Nevertheless, the other top 6 have ability and lots of it, and yet only 3 of them can seperate themselves from us because they match us in the other three areas.

 

Ryan Taylor is a key part of those three other areas, and has over-performed more-so than any of our other players this season.

Offered nothing going forward apart from one half decent'ish cross to Cisse.  Doesn't get involved in play often and he's one paced and predictable. 

 

Still like him as a squad player, but how is he starting games FFS.

Completely, he's not a footballer. He's a dead ball specialist and able to cross when not under pressure. You ask him to do any other footballing basics; dribbling, passing, positioning, tackling and he looks like a championship player at best

I thought he was an appalling defender. He only didn't get found out due to Jonas and due to him not being targeted at first. He had three or four games where he was the worst player on the pitch for us due to his total inability to defend
