The England Thread

Switzerland and Slovenia are formidable outfits.......It's never easy to play in North-East european nations like Lithuania and Estonia either.

Don't think qualification will be as straightforward as everyone seems to reckon when you factor who England have got managing them.

They have to finish in the top three of a group (at minimum for the playoff) in which three of the sides have absolutely no chance of qualification. It shouldn't be back-breaking labour.

Rooney's a total w***** who has repeatedly let England down in the last ten years. Oh well, just another reason not to bother with them.

Very succinctly put and something most of us can agree on. England are about as good and likeable as NUFC, and we are a bunch of useless tossers with a couple of exceptions.

As long as in-ger-land play all their games at wembley they really are little more than london united.

Wasn't this the case for the fifty years or so until Wembley was finally torn down? It is not some sort of new development.

It was a sh1te idea for those years as well.

Now there are good stadiums up and down the country.

In-ger-land ? fu@k em.

Spain doesn't have a "Wembley" and the NT plays throughout the country. Heck, there would be hell on hearth if they tried to have the team play only in Madrid.

It brings the team closer to the fans; the atmosphere is great when they go to Valencia, for example.

Rooney as captain. Says all you need to know about in-ger-land and none of its good.

That the current best player and best candidate for captaincy is made captain? Yeah, things must be f***ed up.

might be the best player and sometimes doing that changes them but I think a midfield player or defender is best if there is a good candidate

How are they lined up? Think they should mimick Liverpool, with Sterling in behind Rooney and Sturridge in a diamond. Doesn't sound like that's how they are setup though.

Essentially a 4-4-2 with Sterling left and Chamberlain right but fluid and Sterling popping up all over the place

Ah, okay. Really think they should try that Liverpool setup. They can always drop into a 4-4-2 when defending.
