Sir Bobby Robson (1933–2009)

I think there should be some special tribute or charity event when Newcastle play Ipswich this year.

As he lived for football, a continuation of the SBR Trophy where we invite one of his former clubs to play us each year in his memory, with gate receipts paid to the charity.

As McClaren said, he was successful but did it the right way, I don't know a person with a bad word to say.

I'm going to go up tomorrow when they'll be quite a few tributes already there to look at and read. Think I'll take an old strip up. What a disgrace that the statue of Sir Bobby never materialised thanks to the current regime.

A great man has left us. He leaves a legacy to remember.

It's really a shame that he goes now, with the club in this shambolic state. But then it could be even worse.

RIP Sir Bobby

It was a privelege to have the great man as our manager. We may not have won any silverware but it was a great time and wouldn't change it for winning something under anyone else.

Remember being at the first home game after he took over from the shambles left by Gullit, and beating Sheff Wed 8-0. It speaks for itself

Sorry to hear this sad but not unexpected news.

Sir Bobby had a wonderful life as he said and will always be held in special regard for the job he did in saving NUFC from relegation and building a side that reached the CL.

A`pity he didn't come to the club earlier - many fans in different countries will mourn his passing.

The obituary on the BBC that they'll probably be having on the 1pm, 6pm 10pm news states that Sir Bobby's spell at Newcastle 'was not a success.'

Any way of getting this corrected, does anyone think?

Load of bollocks, that. Whilst we weren't successful in the literal sense of the word (and not as great as other clubs were under him), he took us back to where we probably should be.
