So if the Moat deal goes through, and Shearer is gaffer again, do you think Barton will leave? Or Shearer will just have to say we need Barton as we don't have anyone else as good and the window closes in 2 weeks?

Yeah, seems to be growing into a role within the club finally. Wouldn't call him a 'playmaker', but he's at least trying to provide a link between the defence, midfield and the forwards. Just needs a bit more understanding with Routledge, as there were countless times Barton played a ball expecting Routledge to be making a run one way, only for Routledge to be making the complete opposite run.

You can see he has the slide rule pass within him, just needs to understand the players around him more.

Creative passing into the box is always a crapshot, just happens that none of his 50/50s came to anything today.

Needs to stop belting it long to Carroll whenever he can't think of anything better though. There were so many times today where the team kept possession for long periods of time with some good football, then Barton got the ball and decided "fuck this, let's just hit it up to Andy and hope he can beat the fucker standing next to him."

Ive noticed that his corners are usually very high in the air and stay there for a while, as well as lacking a bit of power. There was one in particular today that felt like it was in the air for about 8 seconds and landed almost outside the box.

He doesn't get in the box beyond the strikers, mostly because he is too slow. When you have Tiote as a dedicated defensive midfielder and you are enjoying 64% possession at home I think we are entitled to expect more.

Short passing and movement is generally excellent.

His crosses into the box from a central position were shite though, absolute shite.

He keeps us ticking over and is a huge part of the reason why we're playing some better football this year. Always looking for the ball and never hides, which is a welcome change from some of the excuses for CM's we've had in the last few years.

Final ball is poor at times, no doubt, but right now he's a vastly better option than anyone else we have in CM to partner Tiote. Plenty of other starters I'd be quicker to try and buy replacements for as well.

We won two corners from those balls by the way.

Just a pity his corners are shit really.

Should get R. Taylor or Gutierrez on them. Oh wait, they don't start, Perch and Nolan do ...

His crossing on the whole is terrible though.

Anyone can put in 1 good corner.

Compared to Barton, his are in a different class.
