Steggy
As long as he's not on much, havn't got much against him remaining as a back up. Totally
David28
Still think he's got some talent. The early bits we've seen of him were promising. The season in the Championship - he's bossed the midfield there. Think another contract on some sort of the same wages wouldn't be that bad. Probably loan him out 3 months to a Championship side to gain match fitness and confidence. Think he isn't worse than Gosling tbh.
Tooj
He's only on about 5k a week according to reports, however as we've got Abeid coming through, and Gosling who offers something different. It's probably best for all if he moved on, especially if he's got anything about him he'll want to go anyway for the sake of his career.

toon25
An unremarkable player, but nevertheless useful for squad depth. Whether or not he's happy for a 'squad' role I suppose we'll see come January.

Guest Heneage
Is he really adequate cover though? I mean in his performances last season he was ok, mediocre perhaps. Now we have the likes of Vuckic and Abeid I'd rather see young players gain minutes than just put him in there because he is 'ok'.

The lad has a decent range of passing so can do an okay job when he is needed. Though I guess for his sake, he has to move on.
Ishmael
Agree that Guthrie is more than capable of being a back-up player for us. I doubt he'll want that at this stage of his career though.
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
We can get much better than Guthrie. And surely next season it will be completely morally wrong to have the likes of Abeid and Vuckic limited by Guthrie.
Ameritoon
I wouldn't mind starting him when Tiote is gone. He seems to play his best when he sits back deeper than the other CM, but doesn't necessarily play in a defensive mid roll. Had some of his better performances there last season and started in that roll during our best stretch during the Championship season. Ideally, Gosling will be good enough to slot in that roll in Jan/Feb, but Guthrie shouldn't be ruled out.
TRon
Guthrie's been fantastic value if it's true he only picks up 5k a week. While he's not good enough for a club like this he'd be a great buy for a lower profile team. I hope he gets a decent move and wish him well.

Fairly certain his wage was confirmed as part of a court hearing or something.
Steggy
He'd be a good buy for a championship side looking for promotion or a lower prem team.
JH
Don't see why we should get rid. Decent player (regardless of what the 'wooden heart' brigade say) and not exactly denting the wage budget. I like him. We're never going to get 11 quality players and 11+ quality backups so what he's needed for, he's more than capable of fulfilling for now IMO. madras
he's a runner down, let him mrun his contract down unless someone comes in with a decent fee, in his case 2mill.

Tachikoma
From his point of view, he'd probably be better off letting his contract run down. I kind of like him as a player and I'm not entirely convinced that Gosling is any better.

wormy
Aye, don't see why everyone has the idea Gosling is going to turn out much better or useful. He's never going to be a starter for us, but these are exactly the type of players I think we should be holding onto. Build a squad. Obviously if he wants to move on for more opportunities elsewhere, can't blame him and good luck. Cheers for the Championship. But, if he's happy to continue here, why not? Guest magpie99
He is a squad player and I would keep him in the squad until one of the youngsters (Richardson, Abeid, Inman) has gained/loaned out experience to show they can operate within the first team squad. eliassenfredrik
Decent squad player, with great passing skills. And he keeps Smith a few steps further off the bench.
Guest
Hardly a decent squad player when everyone was bricking it when they thought he'd be playing on Sunday if Cabaye was out, is he? I'd happily see him leave in January or next summer.
Darth Crooks
Decent squad player, with great passing skills. And he keeps Smith a few steps further off the bench. For the last reason alone he needs to be £200,000 a week.
