Mahoneys Tache
BBC elocution training. I was pissed with Waddle once and he didn’t sound like he does when he’s on the radio.

I find the idea that people aren’t aware that they alter their use of dialect and soften or harden their accent, depending on their audience are either thick, or disingenuous. absolutely, my in-laws are from Nottingham and I definitely don’t sound as Scottish when I’m talking to them as I do with my mates. I genuinely don’t think elocution training is a thing for BBC presenters anymore, it’s just a natural softening of the accent when speaking to a different audience (or convergence if you want the sociolinguistic term), I mean everyone recognises we have a "phone voice" when speaking in a professional capacity for instance. It’s generally not even conscious a lot of the time, it just comes from a desire to be understood. Edited January 17 by Ghandis Flip-Flop Autocorrect changed elocution to execution, which I think a few on here think is what should happen if you learn to enunciate differently after leaving the NE 😂
Lush Vlad
If you want to talk about people doing it consciously and it sounding totally unnatural. I always thought Cheryl Tweedy totally forced her ‘new’ voice after all her fame. Not heard her talk in years. Possibly the worst one I have ever heard below. The cunt’s from Solihull and he’s talking like an extra from Top Boy There was another one knocking around doing a day in the life and it’s even worse. Yorkie
The worst is that lass on TNT; Lynsey Hipgrave (?) Shame cos she's really good otherwise. Nails down a chalkboard.
Justdoesit
I think a lot of industries have diction training, which I have had in my past (early) corporate life. As much as we love it, and a lot of other regional folk do - sometimes people can't understand us, and I think that's fine. Nobody ever questions where I am from nowadays, FYI. Holloway
Didn't Shearer get some media training when he first started punditry to stop people nodding off ? They probably hoyed a bit of diction at him at the same time .

Superior Acuña
Love this goal, even if it was part of a loss. I was there up in the corner behind, great view of it. Anyway, just noticed the steward flinching from the strike, can see when it shows it from behind Shearer PS that kit looks better with white socks Edited February 15 by Superior Acuña
Cookie1892
Went to a talk in with God himself last night at the hilton hotel Some canny stories and nowt controversial although he did say he would support a stadium move/change as long as it was on leazes park and not anywhere else

Superior Acuña
Proper love his celebrations. I sometimes used to wonder if there’d be some bitterness seeing us win a trophy - something he missed and should’ve had. Clearly not an ounce, he’s really a fan like any of us. I did as well - I was saying to a mate that it’s funny that his celebration when playing was so functional and unemotive - but as a fan he goes fucking crackers. I reckon it answers the age old question of whether players enjoy goals more than fans
bobbydazzla
I spent time with him this week and he came across like a top bloke, a good laugh who was happy to sit and chat shite with a numpty like me He’s Newcastle daft, loves golf, swears like a trooper, hates xG, talks about family life, his missus is fun too Put to bed the “don’t call me Alan, call me Mr Shearer” patter that gets bandied about I love him more than I already did Edited March 21 by bobbydazzla

AyeDubbleYoo
That’s a ridiculously good team, we have some amazing players in this league. Hall would’ve been close if he’d stayed fit. Edited 7 hours ago by AyeDubbleYoo
Kid Icarus
As much as it pains me because I can't stand Chelsea and wanted his transfer to stay as an embarrassing waste of money, Caicedo has to be in the Team of the Season for me, he's pretty much single handedly dragged Chelsea into contention for the Champions League and has been a 9/10 in nigh on every match I've seen him in.
