Think their goal (two pretty poor headed clearances) was his first mistake all season. Otherwise good again, not that he had much to do second half.

He has a habit of not being at aware of his surroundings so he'll rush headers, giving possession awaway in dangerous areas.

Made a couple of superbly timed slides in our box first half to stop them getting a shot in. Was willing him to get himself forward during the late surge but to no avail. I think it'll be a goal of Jose esque celebrations.

Debuchy was to blame for the goal... Did a Simpson and showed the attacker on his strongest foot inside instead of showing him down the line...

Mike Williamson was expected to be a fringe member of Alan Pardew’s squad, but the 30-year-old has been one of Newcastle’s most consistent performers.

His sterling displays have not gone unnoticed by the Toon Army, who have rewarded him with their own terrace anthem urging England boss Roy Hodgson to take him to the World Cup.

One Magpies fan started a Twitter campaign designed to help him in that quest, and the Mike Brazilliamson account, @getmike2brazil, yesterday broke the 1,000-followers barrier.

The song – to the tune of Mrs Robinson from The Graduate movie – means a lot to Williamson, reminding him how far he has come.

He said: “I have seen the chants and the campaign on Twitter. I got a lot of text messages from my friends over Christmas and they were nearly all talking about the song.

“It’s fantastic. The supporters here are so passionate and it’s great they have taken me to their hearts.

“Hopefully, they will continue to sing it for the rest of the season, because that will mean I’m in the side and playing well.”

Newcastle go into tomorrow’s home clash against league leaders Arsenal on the back of seven wins and a draw in their last nine league matches.

“We could not be in any better shape,” said Williamson. “The confidence is flowing through the squad.

“We know we will be going out there with a team full of fantastic ability that’s willing to work hard. We can think about getting three points from a team like Arsenal and that is a great position to be in.

“We have beaten Chelsea and Manchester United so there’s no reason why we should fear Arsenal. We have proved we can mix it with the best.

“It’s a big ask, but if we work hard and make sure we are spot on, we can take the points.”

As if you can bring Shola into this thread, man. Shola's a shocking player who continues to be utter shit and fail to do his job.

Cheer up for fuck sake, every single newcastle fan realises Shola is absolutely turd. It's all about the comedy he brings to our lives and the fact he's going to Brazil is just the icing on the shitty cake
