Thought at half time that this was the best performance he's put in this season, a return to last season's form. Second half wasn't as good, but he still had a decent game. Needs some more movement ahead of him though.

Awful refereeing for the second goal, there was nothing wrong with that tackle at all.

Was on the ball way to much tonight, that may sound deft but when your DCM sitting deep is constantly being given the ball back to him we end up inviting pressure onto us.

little close passes all the time, he laid it off for an attacking player then they just play it back to him.

It worked well once when we had them pinned and was ur keep the ball option but way to many times he tried a long ball as he was sick of it coming straight back to him or he had to play it all the back to Krul.

The lesser of two evils with Cabaye.

As for the free kick for the 2nd goal, I may have to see it again but it looked clumsy as fuck from Tiote. Stuck his leg out and blocked the player IIRC.

Got the ball clean as you like, player went over his leg. Was absolutely obvious at the time imo, ball clearly changed direction.

Tackle was clean as you like. Mental decision from the ref cos it didn't, for one second, look like a foul.

Not that it would have mattered come full time.

of course it mattered come full time,  goals change games and when they scored we were probably having our best phase of the game and were keeping possession well.  If that free kick hadn't been awarded you have no idea how the game would have finished.  We could even have broken away from the tackle and scored you never know.

Personally thought he played well really, was basically our main man when they were bossing it in the first half, popped up everywhere in defence, helped us get a hold on the ball and we'd have struggled even more without him. in the 2nd half when we got a bit more of a grip on the game it was mostly down to his distribution and willingness to show for the ball which was actually pretty good. quick look on the chalkboard shows he attempted 92 passes (not far off twice as much as the next man) and made 79 of them. our best player.

did stop tracking gerrard for the goal though.

It's came to the stage now where too many NUFC fans have overhyped Tiote.  He wins the ball fair enough, but gives the ball away countless times and then gives away stupid fouls.

Teams in the league know how to play him now, it's either put him under-pressure and you'll either win it back because he takes too long or pass it hopelessly out of play or to the opposition keeper.

"foul" for the free kick was him going in across Agger with his wrong leg. They're often given even when you get the ball. He didn't track Gerrard's run for the clincher which is probably a bigger mistake.

Tiote's still not back up to speed, but we have much bigger problems on both flanks.

You were having the best phase of the game as in how we have " good spells". As in, sideways possession going nowhere and the opposition keeper having f*** all to do.

But when you're away at a place like Anfield, particularly in the current climate, those spells aren't at all bad. I recall one bit of keepball in the Liverpool half where their fans were starting to get on their backs. That in itself is a reasonable aim. Of course, you've eventually got to do something about it, but if you have enough creative players used to playing together then you start to develop the confidence that you just need to keep patient and probing and the opportunity will come.

Man Utd is his last game

Don't be silly. We'll haggle until the end of the window at least.

I'd be very surprised if any team is interested on his form this season.
