Hughesy
Why wouldn't you want to see a local lad do well in the World Cup? Agree - really odd to actually not want him to do well. Don't get it personally.
Nobody
It's only because he's not our problem any more that I want him to do well, had he still been a NUFC player I would have been well annoyed to see him played as Pardew would be more likely to play the useless fucker. Sifu
Didn't do too badly when he came on, the fact that he made Nigeria look a lot more dangerous when he came on speaks volumes really... Nigeria will do well to score even one goal in this World Cup...though I am hoping for a Shola inspired performance against Bosnia (sorry Dino) and Argentina! Trumpet
Thought Shola was very good in his appearance. Caused us some problems and defended a couple of set pieces very well.
Disco
Why wouldn't you want to see a local lad do well in the World Cup? Because it renders Twitter & the WC thread fucking tedious for 120 mins during the game. It's like some sort of horrific #Bantzoff
TaylorJ_01
Still can't like him. He's been ruining my life as long as I can remember being a Newcastle fan. This is all equivalent to "ah fucking llve hayfever, man" or "period once a month? wish it was once a day!"
Ste
Pardew still wants this guy back. It was a relief to see him in another teams colours. I'm not happy for him, I don't know him I just know he's been poor for such a long time in our colours. I'll not go as far to make personal attacks against him, but as a footballer he's shite. sempuki
No ill will towards Strolla but mental he is at the WC and players like Zlatan aren't. Lucky lad.
Cajun
Really happy for the lad, never good enough but somehow got the chance we all dreamed of. Played through injuries just to get a chance and is now playing in the biggest tournament in the world. Also comes across as a really nice bloke (despite stopping a dressing room punch up and all that). Fair play to the lad .

Dinho lad
Fraud of a player and he's playing in the World Cup man. Fuck this Shola love in. Indeed. Those people that are excited by this big piece of shit are probably the same people that gave the same treatment to Nile fucking Ranger when first started playing for us. Guest
He saw a chance and snatched it. Similar to Earle, Sinclair, etc in 98 with Jamaica. Opportunism is all it was. Why did it take him until his 30s to declare himself for Nigeria anyway?

Ketsbaia
Play well against Bosnia and he could start against the Argies. My dream would come true - THE handshake! Here's a mock-up of what it'd look like.....
TaylorJ_01
terrifying. Possibly even moreso that he's in goals.

Why did it take him until his 30s to declare himself for Nigeria anyway? I think he was keep being pressured not to declare himself for Nigeria by successive managers who didn't want him away at the ACN every 2nd January. Hanshithispantz
He might sap his powers, like some kind of talent stealing John Coffey.
Tiresias
If Shola could sap talent he might actually be good by now, he's more like some kind of bottomless talent hole
