ujpest doza
He's had a canny first half today mind. Played well. Tiote giving him the time and space to play.
Guest firetotheworks
Probably the best player in the world.
Elliottman
first half i thought he done really well, some lovley first touch passes. flagged a lot in the 2nd half. that one where he just stopped running showed he was knackered.
madras
i'll bet if he played exactly the same but we'd got beat today he'd be getting slagged off.
Shak
Doesn't seem to have 90 minutes in him, should have been subbed off today I reckon. Played decently in the first half but hit the wall after an hour, improved on last week though for sure.
Dokko
With Smith and Nolan we've got two passengers for 90% of the time, though Nolan can at least score now and then. I think removing Smith from the central role and putting Tiote in there for away games and HBA in for home games which we need to win (either dropping Nolan back or keeping him nearer Carroll) should make a massive difference on Nolan's ability on the pitch, his chances and overall play. Smith is magnifying Nolan's problems ATM, he's the real problem, Nolan we can carry as he will return us goals but we can't carry both, unless Smith plays like he did at Villa, which tbh was his best game in about 4 years. Had a good game without Smith imo. He's got his faults, but at least some of his assets can come through without Smith on the pitch.
Dr.Spaceman
But I thought he was useless?
Decky
Should have got a goal today, which would have made it 3 in 5. He could well end up with 10 this year if he keeps it up and that would be absolutely brilliant for us.
Guest scottishmag54
if he had any pace he would have put away that chance near the end where coleman tackled him.
Dinho lad
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2010/09/17/nolan-ben-arfa-needs-time-to-settle-in-toon-72703-27287613/ Seems to me he is a little concerned about his place being under threat. Jonas is the one who sounded concerned about his place, to be honest.
Heron
Kevin nolan raped everton yesterday you absolutely moronic gonks.
Guest Haris Vuckic
He did and the enabler was replacing Smith with Tiote allowing Nolan to do his job rather than clean up after Smith.
ponsaelius
I never said he was useless, just a hinderance. We'd still be better with a mobile player in his position, however he had a very good game yesterday - one of his best in a Newcastle shirt in terms of allround game. Yesterday proved just how crap Smith is however.
Thespence
He was more effective in as CM against Everton than a AM against Blackpool. Be intresting to see what happens when/if we play 2 proper strikers.
Mr. Snrub
Think with a solid midfield behind him he can actually be a good option playing behind the striker.
JH
He actually had a bit of pace about him at times yesterday
Guest elbee909
He's halfway between totally useless and totally useful. Depending on what the rest of the team is doing.
Elliottman
very good first 60 minutes then faded, suprised he wasnt brough off.
LesPaul
There isn't anyone would could start instead of him though. Yesterday (with Krul instead of Harper) and Raylor instead of Perch would probably be our best team IMO
Stu
if he had any pace he would have put away that chance near the end where coleman tackled him. What? It seems some people woukd rather he didn't do well because it contradicts their agenda

It seems some people woukd rather he didn't do well because it contradicts their agenda Can only assume that's before he saw it wasn't actually a good tackle, tbf.
