Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition

Glad this is rumbling on and getting more serious. Blatter has to go, Fifa has to come clean and reform.

fifa needs to be torn down and started again from scratch

It's never going to happen, and not what is needed really. Get your point though.

Sorry how isn't what is needed exactly? What benefit is there in keeping FIFA exactly?

It's a very rich and established mechanism - if it was lead in the right way and didn't have the corrupt faces at it's top inner circle it could transform almost overnight for a positive thing for the world of football.

I'm not saying I'm against tearing it down and starting again - just seems over kill. There's clearly a number corrupt c***s at the top that need removing from football, at any level, for good. Post that, rules need to come in to limit how long people stay at the top of FIFA and introduce transparency on everything it does to make it all fair again.

Corruption is ingrained in the organisation now, you'd literally have to get rid of every single Fifa delegate (or whatever they're called) and start again with new rules as you say. So if you're doing that why not just start from scratch and give people a better organisation?

Introducing limited 4 year terms our whatever now is simply going to mean they've got less time to make money and will probably be even greedier.

They've become so bad football literally needs to see the back of Fifa imo, it needs a fresh start and I hope the Germans have the balls to make it happen cause the c***s in charge if the English fa won't derail the gravy train.

Bin Fifa.

Awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosting rights: FIFA lodges criminal complaint

Following the statement issued by the chairman of the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee, Hans-Joachim Eckert, on the report by the chairman and deputy chairman of the investigatory chamber, Judge Eckert has recommended to the FIFA President – in line with the FIFA Code of Ethics – that a criminal complaint be lodged with the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland in Berne. This criminal complaint has been lodged today. The subject of the criminal complaint is the possible misconduct of individual persons in connection with the awarding of the hosting rights of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups investigated by Michael Garcia, chairman of the investigatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee. In particular there seem to be grounds for suspicion that, in isolated cases, international transfers of assets with connections to Switzerland took place, which merit examination by the criminal prosecution authorities. The reports compiled by Michael Garcia and Cornel Borbély will be made available to the Office of the Attorney General via Hans-Joachim Eckert.

Unlike FIFA’s bodies, the Swiss criminal prosecution authorities have the ability to conduct investigations under application of criminal procedural coercive measures.

are the media in any other countries going after this?  seems like it's just the english media, which is great in one respect, but in another means we'll forever be getting the short end of the stick and will never see another tournament unless FIFA is disbanded

They are just parodying themselves for the crack now, surely!!!

Amazing, yet nowt will happen.

Time for some of the national FAs etc to call time on this utterly corrupt organisation and form a breakaway.

problem is the national FAs are all just as corrupt and in on all this shit as the FIFA executives. The only hope to kill FIFA is the european clubs saying fuck it and breaking off from FIFA to make their own group

True.

Corruption all around by the looks and sounds of it.

Was inevitable once big money started being churned in and out of the game. OK the corruption at FIFA was probably there way before, but more like a 'jobs for the boys' and 'backhander' style until the big bucks really started rolling in. Then it probably moved to whole new level.

Breakaway has to be the answer..somehow and in some form.

Christ knows how mind.

Jesus fucking wept.

The man is a lunatic.

Its getting to the point where UEFA should make an annoucement with the backing of all the nations it represents, that European tams will not take part in these world cups.  FIFA and all its sponsors would shit themselves.

To be honest I think it would only take one big team to withdraw to start an unstopable shitstorm. And I know england haven't won anything in 50 years but they're still a huge team as far as sponsors and fans are concerned.
