Realistic Transfer Targets Summer 2011

If (god forbid) Enrique does leave, if we could get Bridge in on relatively cheap wages as unlikely as it is, I wouldn't think that'd be a bad signing at all. Dodgy start at West Ham but since then he's been one of their better performers. Would still prefer we kept Jose mind.

£40mil + right there

Which we should have if MA keeps his word and we cut a bit of dead wood (Raylor, Smith, Perch, Xisco and Routledge should all bring in a small transfer fee). Not that I think we should get rid of Routledge.

Not surprised by the reaction to be fair, it's amazing how much his stock has fallen since he left Chelsea. Obviously I think he's better than people on here but considering there's not a deluge of quality LB's available on the market would be surprised if he isn't one we consider.

I would like for us to be looking abroad for a bigger % of our summer signings.  Obviously it helps when someone has Prem experience but there will also be a higher $$ premium when that's involved.  I love when we unearth players like Enrique, Colo, Jonas, etc...

Spending £20m on players from La Liga = 'unearthing'.

Poor word choice, admittedly.

If we were buying those guys from other Prem teams though it would've cost us double that.

Don't follow Serie A at all but are there any Sampdoria players worth looking at with their relegation?

I saw their game against Genoa the other week and they were absolutely dreadful.

Didn't realise they finished 6th & 4th the previous two seasons! That's some fall from grace. Here's hoping Spurs follow that trend next season.

I know Cassano upset the chairman, but it was stupidity letting him and Pazzini leave in January. Especially when you replace them with Maccarone and Macheda.

They still have FM legend Palombo though.
