taxfree
Why do he need to wait to see him in action? Why don't he just look at some of the games from last season? Move it, Schteve! You could use that to write off nearly all of our players TBF. Which is why what he says doesn't make sense. You don't make a decision based on one fixture in pre-season. Wouldn't be surprised if Colo left.
Kanj
I'd keep him until Southampton / window closes until we sign someone to partner Mbemba. I'd also happily remove him as captain and make him a plain old squad player as a backup CB. But I'm sure theta unrealistic. assuming it's impossible to sign a partner for Mbemba by match 1, it's crucial he's fit to play that game next to the new fella. Paully
He is still be far the best centre back on our books and I hope he gets the chance to play alongside Mbemba which will allow him to play his own game and not have to think about the likes of Williamson / Taylor. Dave
“Colo has been training intermittently. We wanted him to play more games but we have not risked him. “We would have liked to got more minutes against Gladbach but I think he has probably now got a full week with us next week and to train with the team. “That for me will be vitally important because I know there has been a lot of speculation. “The club said (to me) ‘Come in and assess the squad and the week before the end of pre-season let us know what you think’.” For the second time this week McClaren says he wants Coloccini to remain part of his plans. The United head coach said: “There is a lot of speculation about Colo but he is still a big part of this football club. “I’ve stressed how much I want him here and to be part of the team and squad and I have expressed that to him and the club. “So yeah the speculation is the speculation, there has been no official approach by anybody or anyone. I hope Colo will be training with us on Tuesday.”

RobS
I hope this doesn't drag on, the sooner he's sold the longer it gives us to get a replacement in before the window closes
M1tche
Colo and Mbemba could make a good pairing in my view. Colo may have looked a shadow of his former self, but putting him next to the right partner could bring a lot of his form back. I know we won't be seeing the absolute best of him again, but he can look good enough to make us more of a solid team. This could be hopeful thinking on my part, as I have never seen mbemba play, but all his listed attributes seem to make him a perfect partner for Colo (even if many think he could do with being a few inches taller)
maze
Difficult decision, in my opinion. It has been quite some time since he last performed at an acceptable level for Newcastle. He is 33 years old. Experience is good, but he is declining. Mentally he has looked "gone" for a very long time. On the other hand, we are actually talking about selling Coloccini BEFORE getting rid of Williamson and Taylor. Also we do not have any decent CBs lined up for replacement. It's a bizarre situation. SUPERTOON
Probably already been said but it's pretty simple, assuming we are not signing another CB which looks increasingly likely, it would be suicidal to let him go.
sempuki
We will no doubt be after an extortionate figure for him. Good article by Douglas this morning on why we need to sell him this summer.
M1tche
I agree we need to upgrade, but we must get Williamson out 1st, then taylor and then line up a replacement for Colo before he is sold. He is still the best of a bad bunch still.
Nepharite
I was sat near the players box yesterday, Coloccini's demeanour could be described as surly. Never took his eyes off the game, while his "mates" larked about next to him.
Shak
Desperate to go away and lick his BFF's Pardew's arse. Fucking washed up loser, wish we'd let him fuck off to San Lorenzo when his wife cut his balls off.
Skeletor
If he is a Pardew bum boy then I hope he is sold. We need to remove all traces of Pardew from the squad before we recover.
TRon
I hope this doesn't drag on, the sooner he's sold the longer it gives us to get a replacement in before the window closes What replacement would that be? If we were going to buy a replacement we'd have got rid already, but I can't see us spending another £6-8m that it would take to buy even a half decent centre back. Dr Colossus
If we hadn't got rid of him and Colo had gone, we could've had a Pokemon evolution partnership of Mbemba and Mbiwa.
Alberto2005
Glad tbh. We were never going to get 2 defenders in and this means Williamson has less chance of playing.
Sir Toon
Seems like the quotes about Colo wanting to stay came from after the game against BMG. The delay in saying this yesterday, obviously designed to create speculation.
