Mike
Showed why his pace can be a real asset. Almost as if he knew from the first minute that he had the beating of his defender and grew in confidence. Needs to start every game with that mindset. No more of this timid slow it down drop the shoulder bollocks, just get it out your feet and take him on we know you can do it. But after that learn to cross. Some of the crosses weren't bad, but that pace is the exact reason why he should come on after 70. Hopefully he gets some confidence from the game tonight. Guest Brendan_Rice
That is the best I have seen him play for us, looked sharp and the defenders looked scared shitless of him anyone see 3 of them trying to tackle him on the wing and he still won a throw
BillClinton
thats some worldclass speed he has. If he could ever figure out how to add some football to go with it we'd certainly have something. definitely worth keeping around just in case he does. Sean
Haven't read the opinions on him tonight as was in the pub, but thought he played how he should play, using his pace, not thinking too much, was surprised because after the supposed abuse he got I could have seen him crumble and get even worse, but he actually looked to have grown hugely from that night. Looked dangerous all night.
morla84
Its definitely working playing the ball behind the full back and getting him to run onto it, instead of giving him it on the halfway line and bottling taking the man on. Gave him loads more confidence
nufc4eva
He looked up for it and terrorised the full back, much better when ball played in front of him. Needs to learn to cross earlier instead of hitting byline all the time. We need that variation
Guest Tyson
Its definitely working playing the ball behind the full back and getting him to run onto it, instead of giving him it on the halfway line and bottling taking the man on. Gave him loads more confidence Viable tactic against good opposition, when we had Bellamy. Bellamy could also ride a bump, and not rely on beating his man with pace off-the-mark. And Bellamy's decision making (assessing teammates' runs through the middle, knowing what ball to play, when to cut back inside etc) was top drawer. Against better oppostion that quick & decisive decision becomes so important. Obertan hasn't shown that thus far.
Kevo
Played very well last night, and you could see his confidence building as the game went on. Just wish we'd sign Debuchy as I think Obertan would be 10x more confident with a good right back behind him in both attacking and defending. Definitly good enough to be a squad player for us, but still short of starting in the PL imo unless an injury occurs.
morla84
Agreed, just run to the byline and cross to the near post/whack a ball in far too hard anywhere in the box seem to be his 2 options at the mo no matter where our players are
Darth Crooks
I've got no problem with his crosses really. They lack some finesse but balls we're being put in dangerous areas. I think if we had more legs in midfield then you would have found Ba getting onto some of those.
ExiledGeordie
The benefit of being in Europe is that the likes of Obertan will get more playing time and hopefully build some confidence. Just watched the first half from last night and he looked pretty decent.
Dr Venkman
He looked up for it and terrorised the full back, much better when ball played in front of him. Needs to learn to cross earlier instead of hitting byline all the time. We need that variation The thing is though, he can't pass the ball. Whether its along the ground or in the air he hasn't got the technique to place it or the judgement to weight it. While he's in possession plenty of opportunities arise for him to play the ball into someone and he can't do it. He's either got 'pass backwards on floor' or 'cross in direction of goal'. Thats his range of passing.
timeEd32
Apparently refused to go on tonight.
Cajun
Would be very strange, why would he even travel if he was refusing to play. Bet it will come out in a couple of days that it was a load of bollocks.
johnnypd
probably another 'Marveaux stormed out the building'
stozo
Apparently refused to go on tonight. Where'd you read/see/hear that? Looked to me like he was going to come on for Cabaye when he was injured but then Cabaye stayed on. Obertan was certainly changed and ready to go anyway. BeloEmre
Why would he refuse to play? He should be happy to get two or three minutes ffs
BeloEmre
It's ESPN who said he refused to play. Probably from the same source as the Marveaux thing.
taxfree
Apparently refused to go on tonight. Can't see it. Seems a good, rather shy guy. If he did, and it was because of him not starting ahead of Marveaux...
Dave
probably another 'Marveaux stormed out the building' Yep. Pards said he was gutted not to get on.
Minhosa
Pardew did confirm that he was fucked off in the dressing room because he didn't get on.

Yorkie
He was stripped ready to go on. Not sure what changed but that ESPN comment has got to be bullshit.
Tooj
Aye even Pardew said he was happy to not get on as he has been class in training.
