Dave
Wasn't there something in one of the locals a few weeks back that we weren't arsed about Ridgewell any more? Might be making this up.

colinmk
Izaguirre from Celtic, back from injury now. Offer a few million + Forster, left-back sorted. Average player, but anything is better than the current situation though. Izaguirre from Celtic, back from injury now. Offer a few million + Forster, left-back sorted. I like him. Probably the only player I rate in Scotland at the moment. Also, he's very much in the same mould as Enrique and would link up with Jonas well, although he's not as good defensively. Well this confused the f*** out of me. I'll let you off since its mutual love of Gary Speed. I dunno, I think it makes sense. For me to say 'I like him' about a player in the SPL is no high praise indeed. He probably is average but there isn't exactly a plethora of available left-backs that could do a job and not cost a bomb. From what I have seen of him he ticks all all the boxes for what you want from a full-back. He also has a cool name and is from Honduras.

The versatile Birmingham City defender was a favoured target of Alan Pardew and the club considered bringing him in during the summer window but other targets have moved ahead of him. Circumstances have changed now with both Colo and Saylor crocked. Personally i think in this situation we need to buy from a home based club, don't think we can gamble on someone coming in from Europe as we don't have time for someone to adapt to english football. We need someone who can come straight in and do a job. I'd be happy with Ridgewell or someone similar.
Sifu
I'd be happy enough with Ridgewell, only as cover though. I'd like to think we would bring someone else in as well to play CB, but one who's properly equipped to play in the PL. Like Yorkie's said, a player who would ideally fill in for Colo if he's injured/suspended. As it stands, Williamson and Colo (in January anyway) will be the first choice pairing. Add this someone else, Ridgewell (and maybe Perch/Kadar) and we'll be fine I reckon.
Dokko
I'd walk over broken glass to have Ridgewell start our next two games. Overall I think he's as good as Williamson. Can anyone see us signing two specialist CBs? With 3 on the books already, its a big ask.
Dave
I think we will sign one player with versatility, like an upgrade on Perch basically. IIRC Pardew was going on about wanting one of those ages before these injuries. Ridgewell is probably in our price range.
Disco
As I've said I'll be pleasantly surprised if we sign (be it on loan or perma-) anyone who isn't out of contract in the summer. Especially a defender.

We can flog Williamson in the summer or sign one of them on loan or on a short term deal.

Plus his partnership with Colo last season was solid enough. Great back up really.

Interpolic
Oh I'm more than happy to keep him too, just making the point that we decided to risk it with 3 capable centre halves last transfer window and we shouldn't be doing so again. Taylor's completely out of the picture for the time being and we need another 2 that can go in there.

Sifu
Mbiwa as the CB & Bassong as CB/LB? That'll do me. I'd probably worry a bit about Mbiwa though - adaptability and all that. But then again, he could have a decent first season in the PL like Bassong did. Regarding Bassong, guess I would take him back in that he can definitely play an effective role at CB. Whether or not he wants to come back however is another issue.
Ikon
Mbiwa yes, but no thanks to Bassong, and im quite sure we aren't interested in him anyway.

AyeDubbleYoo
If we could get Ridgewell and Bassong it would represent a big strengthening of the squad. Probably not happening obviously.
JH
I think we need one specialist centre back to partner Colo (and eventually challenge Taylor for the spot next season, with Williamson as fourth choice), a LB who can be chucked in there in an emergency (ala Pieters) and a loan deal for an 'old head' CB to cover for Talyor for the rest of the season. And we could do with a striker. And we've as much chance of Ashley getting "I love Geordie cock" tattooed on his forehead.
