Realistic Transfer Targets

Now that Swansea are pretty much down, I'd take...

J Ayew

A Ayew

Mawson

Carroll

Olson

Clucas

Naughton

Abraham

That's about the most grey wishlist I've ever seen.

Reckon we'll get them all if we tell the FCB we only want JAMCOCNA?

Wouldn't call it a wishlist. More a list of players who could improve our squad. I think its realistic to say we'd be able to sign one of them.

According to Sky, Bournemouth have made Celtic’s Tierney a top target. He’d be a definite upgrade on Dummett in both attacking and defending play, but could we compete with the likes of Bournemouth with the fee and wages to bring him to SJP?

What makes you think he's a better defender than Dummett? Also, what makes you think anyone in the Scottish league could make it here?

We're more likely to then make a paltry £1m bid for Charlie Daniels.

Don’t get me wrong, Dummett has surpassed my expectations of him this season, and done a lot better than I thought he was capable of, and I’d be happy to keep him as a squad player. However, I think he’s probably reached the peak of his talents and is unlikely to progress further than what we’ve seen. From what I’ve seen (admittedly only on the telly in Tierney’s case), Tierney has far better pace and ability to link both defensive and attacking duties. He could press higher up the pitch than Dummett is capable of, and deal more effectively with pacey/skilful opposition players when they are attacking. He’d also be much more able to overlap whoever we had playing LW and has a better final ball (imo). However, like others have since said, unfortunately I can see him leaving Scotland for a far better (or more progressive/forward thinking and owned) team than us.

Not sure how or why we could turn our nose up at Shaqiri - he's a quality player.  And he's only 26.

It's not always about how good a player is it's also about how they fit the way the team plays and how they effect the culture of the club. Mbemba and Mitro are prime examples of that. Shaqiri fails on both aspects for me, he doesn't work hard enough out of possession for Rafa and he has an awful attitude, I wouldn't want him a million miles from the club, he's a dick.

The Ayews are decent, get them and the Murphys firing us to glory next season.

I'd sign them just so we could sing Zookeeper's Boy by Mew about them

"Ayew, my Jordan Ayew, my Andre Ayew,

My every Ayewwww"

Shaqiri works very hard from what i've seen. Also is this bad attitude just based on that one interview?

Not sure his attitude is that bad to be honest - not sure there is a huge amount of evidence to suggest he's as disruptive or as lazy as you are making out.  He's managed to score 8 goals and 6 assists in a relegated team - that's exceptional.

Based purely on stats and what I've read on him, I reckon Gerard Moreno would be a realistic target for us as a striker.  15 goals in 36 matches for Espanyol this season and 13 in 37 matches last season.
