Imagine being a billionaire man. Would be mint.

Yes, yes it would.

Defo.

Still wouldn't touch this club with a barge pole mind.  Cursed.

NEWCASTLE United owner Mike Ashley is handing £100 million-worth of shares to high street staff this summer.

Some 2,000 workers at the his SPORTS DIRECT empire will get more than £50,000 EACH given the surge in the chain’s share price.

The staff were promised the shares in 2011 after the group smashed profit targets. At the time the award would have been £30,000 given Sports Direct was trading at around 250p.

Yesterday they closed at 452.85p - TEN TIMES their value in late 2008.

Sports Direct confirmed the bumper bonus yesterday alongside figures showing sales have soared 14 per cent in the nine weeks to March 31.

Profits in 2012-2013 are almost certain to top £270 million.

Philip Dorgan, analyst at PANMURE GORDON, said: “Put simply, Sports Direct haven’t got any competition now that JJB has gone.”

The share price rise means Mike Ashley’s own 64 per cent stake in the business he founded in 1982 is now worth £1.7 billion.

The update came as the CBI said 37 per cent of retailers saw sales fall in April — against 36 per cent recording a rise. Almost half said takings were below average for the time of year.

Ultimately his fault we're in this mess. Cheap players, cheap staff, cheap everything.

Cheap players? yes but very good players and not paying over the odds means we have a future financially to keep us going. This is his marker now, he needs to have the balls to sack Pardew (his mate) and bring in someone decent.
