I don't see what good at all it will have on the club/players playing in a near empty St James' with 5,000 Leeds fans there, short or long-term.

I disagree, I'm not saying it will change anything over night but it will send a message to Ashley that the fans are no longer going to bend over and take it.  At the minute he will think/know he can piss all over us and we'll thank him for it.

If they're professionals it shouldn't matter whether there are 3 or 30,000 NUFC fans there.

Less money through the turnstiles would mean more players sold to make up the shortfall imo. He simply doesn't give a fuck.

I'm up for the idea of driving him out but don't think a boycott would be particularly effective.

Ashley does what the fuck he wants knowing we don't like it. The only way a message like that would work is if it happened week-in, week-out. One empty stadium is not going to make him think, "shit, they're pissed off now, let's sell up". Ashley will sell when someone pays the value of the club, I can't see anything making him sell for under that.

my honest opinion barring somehow a fans group getting the near £300m to buy it (calling this scenario unlikely seems an understatement) theres nothing that can be done that will force him out. The main problem as always is finding a buyer of which theres none.

He does, he hated when the fans were singing "Fat Cockney Bastard" and he'll hate a boycott because he'll know it's against him.

That's true, but if you look at people like HBA, some of his interviews suggest it's the fans that make him enjoy it here. Do you think he likes the lack of investment, Kinnear, etc? If the fans don't show up then people like him will think what's the point, more than Ashley being likely to want to sell up.

Ashley does what he wants because he knows we'll still turn up.  I don't think he'll sell up because of a one off boycott but I do think it will make him think about what he's doing.

I think the players would understand what was going on.

I don't think it will, because he'll know the next home game there's going to be over 45000 again.

The idea of staying away from a league cup game is not a bad one in itself, I just think the Leeds fixture is the wrong game at the wrong time. They are a former big club who will bring 5000 fans itching to have another crack at the big time. It's one I would rather see our supporters turn out to back our team against their rabid fans.

We will always find a reason to turn up, next round it will be a different reason but we'll find one.

Ashley runs the club from London, and so long as we are in the Premiership he has no reason to be ambitious, buying a club that you have no emotional ties to is done for money and I think he hates us as much as we hate him.

I'm not a big fan of boycotting like, it's a bit like cutting your nose off to spite your face. If it was to happen though, fans should gather outside the ground and support the team (as crazy as it might sound).
