Christmas Tree
You have to laugh! A few weeks back I was dreading the first two games of the season and concerned with our "missing" striker. Now we are agonising about having Santine, Ben-Arfa and Marveaux on the bench!!!
Ronaldo
Who are Santine and Ben-Arfa?
MyPalAl
How long before the match do the players arrive? 1,5 - 2 hours before kick-off? Aye
Mick
It's not like Jonas scores goals every week. Imo Marveaux will offer a lot more for us in the offensive part but Jonas' workrate are so important for us so i would still start him. Marveaux should play, he should replace the moai, not Jonas. Dave
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/8827889/Alan-Smith-Astute-signing-Yohan-Cabaye-has-been-cornerstone-of-Newcastles-revival-under-Alan-Pardew.html Alan Smith: Astute signing Yohan Cabaye has been cornerstone of Newcastle's revival under Alan Pardew Who would have thought that, after seven games, Newcastle would be sitting proudly in fourth position, seemingly gunning for a place in the Champions League? By Alan Smith 10:00PM BST 14 Oct 2011 In reality, of course, that particular ambition is more suited to Sunday's opponents, Tottenham Hotspur, who look the best equipped to grab the fourth berth. But more of them later. First off, it is only right to pay tribute to Alan Pardew's outfit who started this season under a black cloud. Having just sold their best players, Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique – and having already cashed in on Andy Carroll last January – Pardew had to take one or two gambles with his limited funds in search of replacements. So in came Demba Ba, Gabriel Obertan and, perhaps most crucially, Yohan Cabaye, a talented central midfielder from Lille. In many ways, it is Cabaye's solid partnership with Cheik Tiote that has provided the platform for Newcastle United to prosper. With Pardew deploying two out-and-out wingers in Obertan and Jonás Gutiérrez, the two lads in the middle must work very hard to make sure the back four is not exposed. Not every team plays with so much width and it is easy to get overrun when the opposition prefers a more narrow system. Cabaye and Tiote have therefore done very well and, as proof, Newcastle have conceded only four goals so far, the fewest in the Premier League. Admittedly, keeping it at four might be difficult against a Spurs side bristling with attacking threat. Yet the key battleground could be in midfield, where Harry Redknapp might be tempted to pair Scott Parker with another anchorman, in Sandro, in order to compete directly with Cabaye and Tiote. Whoever wins that tasty scrap has a chance to service the wide men, which, in Newcastle's case, could lead to Gutiérrez getting a run at Kyle Walker, should Rafael van der Vaart once again be asked to play on the right. The Dutchman doesn't much like that role, as he conclusively proved against Arsenal two weeks ago when he continually failed to track back. If that happens here, Walker could be in for a tough time against the direct pace of Gutiérrez. By the same token, Jermain Defoe was asked to drop back when Spurs lost the ball in the derby to help out against Arsenal's three-man midfield. He won't have to do that here. And if Emmanuel Adebayor shakes off his sore hamstring, that double act up front should give Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini their biggest test yet. It's the way Defoe and Adebayor have struck up an immediate understanding that makes you wonder if Newcastle can cope. If Taylor and Coloccini switch off for a second, their adversaries are capable of carving out a chance, just as they did in the recent thrashing of Liverpool. All in all, this should prove a fascinating encounter. You could argue that Newcastle's opening fixtures have been fairly kind and that the likes of Fulham, QPR, Blackburn and Wolves haven't offered as stern a test as some will in the near future. That may be so, but in accumulating the points that they have, Newcastle have built up reserves of confidence that should push Tottenham hard at St James' Park. Guest kingdawson
Jol has a habit of talking unsubstantiated bullshit. It's a lose lose situation on here sometimes tbh. Jol says that he doesn't think we're going to win without Adebayor and is met with "give over" and "Talking unsubstantiated bullshit". Jol saying he think we're gonna beat you would probably be met with the exact same response.
Fenham Mag
So many good memories of this fixture. 7-1, Martin's rocket, Robert's 2 screamers, Colo's volley and many others. Have a feeling it could be a special one and hopefully a great atmosphere.

summerof69
I'm not sure it would be met with the exact same response. I think most expect us to lose and can accept that Ttottenham are the better side.

Neil
Eh?! You're unbeaten after 7 games and you're at home to a side that don't travel well at all up to play you (and Sunderland) based on the past few years, and you "expect to lose"? Spurs are a good side but it's a winnable game.
Fenham Mag
I don't expect to lose like.
Cajun
Of course we can win but the longer we go unbeaten, the longer we concede so few I can't help but think both will end dramatically soon and the players spurs have... They are also on a good run. Still think they will need to score at least 2 to win to cancel out Ba's goal.

Segun Oluwaniyi
Our fullbacks will be raped. Just like last time. This will only be the case if we leave them exposed. Between Jonas and Tiote, they should receive a good amount of help. I really wish we could play 4-3-3 to free Tiote into doing more tracking back in midfield.
