Gallowgate Toon
Didn't see a huge amount of the ball but when he did, he was economical and posed a threat, they were really scared of him. Testament to the lad that even when it's not going his way in terms of getting his foot on it, he's still seen fighting it out at the corner flag in the 80th minute. Fantastic player and just a joy to watch.

lovejoy
worked his balls off. again, credit to pardew.
Nobody
Terrific first half, worked his arse off and scared the Chelsea defenders. Like I said in the match thread, Bertrand should have been sent off around the 50 minute mark for his tackle on Hatem, when Hatem has turned you like that, that's denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. Ameritoon
Who tried to clatter him from behind only for him to stop them dead with his arse and then keck and then carry on searing up theiddle. Classy as. Ramires, was excellent use of his body from HBA. Commentator said some nonsense that Pardew was subbing him off to get more defensive work since he wouldn't do it, such shit, he was working his ass off the entire game. Clearly just wanted some fresh legs and pace to go on the counter.

Cajun
No problem at all with him coming off like that, we need our best players as fresh as possible in these last few/couple of games
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
He played well- great defensive shift and troubled them in the first half, players are really scared of getting close to him. I love those cross field balls he plays too.
AyeDubbleYoo
Good that he showed he can play in games that we want to keep it tight.
Nobody
No problem at all with him coming off like that, we need our best players as fresh as possible in these last few/couple of games I hate it when we take off Ben Arfa, because I love watching him so much, but it was probably the right decision. AlanSkÃrare
When he gets tired his decisionmaking gets worse. Started dribbling when he wasn't supposed to towards the end, but his pressure on the ball and his running was almost Jonas-esque. Pardew deserves massive credit for turning him into a better player. There will be games when he has to put these shifts in, but if we control games to a greater extent we can let him flourish in the last third. Guest Spiria
It's this article. Guest hatem garrincha
In 2008 and 2010, Ben Arfa was also in the first list of 30 players, before...getting out. Third time ?
Rich
Can see him getting the call, being used as an impact sub at first and then forcing his way into a starting position as the tournament progresses with some typically eye-catching displays. Here's hoping, anyway.

Tisd09
Be great for him and the club if he can make it, if only indicate to other French players that if you play well enough at Newcastle you'll get picked. I know Cabaye gets in but he did before we signed him. To see Ben Arfa re establish himself as an International will be good. Just hope he doesn't pick up a knock. Imagine him with a decent pre-season behind him?
Guest hatem garrincha
Ben Arfa is a really different player. A player of the 2000's, with a style of the 60's, a cross between Cruyff and Garrincha That also explains some of his problems of the past with some managers and his delay to establish himself as a world class player in modern football. Memphis
Just can't be overstated what a tremendous player he is. He's got amazing strength, much more than I ever would have imagined. He's now using that on the defensive side of things, tackling, shielding players, winning the ball back frequently. And on the ball, holy shit, what a player. That strength just lets him ride tackles and keep the ball with ease. I don't care how it's happened, somehow the flair of Robert has been combined with the graft of a Jonas and this new player is absolutely brilliant. tmonkey
Blanc would be mad not to take him. At the very least he should be used in the same way Denilson was used in the 2002 Brazilian WC squad.
