Guest neesy111
Not a Barca expert, but I thought Messi played nominally on the wing. Nope, plays centrally, on paper furthest forward but drops deep, hence 'false no 9' description Am I right in thinking that that hasn't always been the case though? For example, when Etoo and Zlatan were there. Correct.
Tiresias
yeah he played when he was young on the wing, then in the zlatan season replaced him in the centre which caused the zlatan guadiola bustup. Messi found room easier as a young player on the wing but always cut inside, moving centrally required him to be cleverer with his runs to avoid being crowded out but helped the team because it drags centre backs completely out of position. STM
Its far more simple than all that IMO. He needs better attacking players playing with him. Firstly, better players will read his game. Secondly, the opposition won't be able to double up on him.

Exaclty , and I'm afraid that Ben arfa is gonna figure it out soon , and re-think it's longlife career plan at Newcastle . We need to bring clever player into this club , stop with papiss cissé blinded-shoot , tioté brainless tackling , jonas keeping the ball no matter what until the ref blown his wistle , even demba ba whith is Hulk-type of strategy(not the player) when he plays upfront alone . This club use to have Shearer , Gazza , Beardsley even Barton was Einstein compared to those guys ffs !! This is statement from the bottom of my heart , and i beg you pardon for my french

David28
Had a complete off game today. Went angry once he lost the ball again and they (Stirling) had that great chance where Taylor blocked it. Still, created the goal and he's always trying. 5 times losing the ball - who cares as long as one moment of magic can create you a goal?
Dinho lad
No, a player of his talent should be having more influence on a game.
Guest BooBoo
Frustrating, his one bit of quality got us the goal though.
Jordan
Far too deep yet again, we need to stop trying to keep 1-0 leads with the attackers we have.
ponsaelius
Our only real threat and out-ball yet again. It reminds me of Jonas a few seasons ago, except obviously he's better at it.
Zero
Defended quite well. Probably spent too much energy there though, looks knackered whenever going forward.
Smal
I thought he was fine today tbh. I thought it was generally accepted that he will lose the ball a fair bit, but what he otherwise provides is far more important? At the end of the day, he set up our only goal with sublime skill that no one else in our team could've managed
Skeletor
Need some how to keep him in more forward positions. It's such a waste of his talent seeing him defend so much.
Gallowgate Toon
He is looking leggy atm, the little fizz he had in his step at the start of the season is gone. Perhaps he's being overworked defensively but even his decision making is looking a little lax.
Jayson
Had the odd good moment, less so than earlier in the season though. Not in his top form atm, think he couldve done better with that counter when he decided to cut inside two players rather than pass to Cisse/shoot first time. Newcastle Fan
he looks like he lost a yard of pace, still not at his best. good work for the goal though.
aussiemag
he looks like he lost a yard of pace, still not at his best. good work for the goal though. always looks faster at the ball. He seems to get outmuscled fairly easy by defenders.
The College Dropout
I would agree that he looks a bit tired in matches. He puts in a shift every game though.
Tiresias
Worst game for us in a while (and he still set up a goal), I'd suggest giving him a little rest if we had anyone who could remotely deputise for him
