NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

The agent of reported Newcastle United target Brown Ideye says interest in the striker is growing.

Dynamo Kyiv have already lined up a replacement for the Nigeria international in Anderlecht’s Dieumerci Mbokani.

Ideye reportedly wants a move to England but as yet no Premier League clubs have offered him a move.

Hootan Ahmadi told Sky Tyne and Wear: "Quite a few clubs are interested now in France, Turkey, Germany, Russia and the Middle East. We are just seeing what the best option is.

"We are waiting for English clubs. He's still keen on the Premier League, although money will be a lot better abroad."

The 24-year-old joined Dynamo Kyiv from French club Socheaux in 2011.

Newcastle buying Darren Bent from Aston Villa would be a victory for Pardew

Alan Pardew is winning a battle to tweak Newcastle’s “Buy 'em young” policy by landing Darren Bent.

The £6million-rated Aston Villa striker is the subject of a scramble for his signature after being told his career at his current club is over.

Buying an established star of the 29-year-old's age would go against the Toon’s core desire to focus on players who are under 26 and therefore carry a sell-on value.

But manager Pardew has long argued that there should always be room for an exception - and, after last season's worrying brush with relegation, Bent is the man he wants.

Former Sunderland and Tottenham frontman Bent is a long-standing target of Pardew’s, after the pair worked together at Charlton Athletic.

If Newcastle push though their interest and make a deal for Bent work, it would be a major sign of backing to the manager who was under fire last season after such a poor showing.

Bent’s past as a hero for their arch-rivals from Wearside represents no bar to the Magpies' interest, although they face competition from the likes of Fulham as well as negotiations over Bent’s current £70,000-a-week wages.

Bent is said to be keen on a switch to St James’ Park and a fresh start after spending much of last season on the bench or sidelined by first-year Villa boss Paul Lambert.

He would also increase the English contingent in a squad some feel is overstocked with Frenchmen.

This theory will go down well.

Especially when they undervalue a few of our lot. Their numbers are just guesswork arent they?

Their members actually discuss their evaluations in the forum, with the mod advising on reasons to the evaluations as the press uses their figures.

He really isn't the type of player we need and don't want him. Would like to see us sign a striker that could maybe play with another forward or go it alone, Bent has never been able to play alongside another forward and is best deployed on his own but requires service from flanks etc.

I don't see how he'd fit into our side or work alongside Cisse. He's a player who operates only in the 18 yard box and we played a system last season which saw us rarely venture into it.

That said his goalscoring record is fantastic and it looks like if he did sign (I don't think he is. This is his agent talking) we'd get him for a relative pittance, so I'm pretty torn.
