toontownman
Totally different type of player, so clearly not. He is a totally different player but he does also plays out wide left. We have a bid in, reported in several places that hasn't been denied yet either right? Depends on Pardews idea of what we need upfront. He seems to value strength, Power, Pace.. tricks and skills are secondary.

toontownman
No, Im not an aficionado of French football.. I should have phrased it more of a question than a statement. I have read he plays wide left in several places. That said it was my fear he would be an alternative to Remy.. and I could see Pardew wanting a more physical approach to the skills of Remy. Having bids in for both Gignac and Gomis seemed to hint at that. Could also be a replacement for Cisse though.
Away Toon
Unless Cisse leaves or is certain to leave I can't imagine Ashley will sanction us buying two additional forwards. I don't believe that we would bid for both Gignac and Gomis, there would be no point at all in buying both. Best case scenario is Cisse leaves (this appears inevitable so might as well get it over and done with) and is replaced by Gomis and Remy out of the players we have being linked with. None of the above is very appealing but would be better than almost certain relegation.
Guest Recoba
Ive never been convinced by Gignac. But I would be over tge moon if we signed him, because he would be a signing...
Ronaldo
£8m a stupid price for a proven PL goalscorer? There are decent Championship players that go for £8m now. 8m for a 29 year old one trick pony. 6 at the absolute most is acceptable. If we get Bent we need others to make up for his lack of other ability. He ain't worth 8m. End of. No amount of puffed our chest Ronaldo posturing makes it any different. I don't think he's quite worth it. But it's not a stupid price.
Tiresias
It's not a crazy price except for what I think a general feeling that Bent is outdated in his style right now, taking into account the english premium it's not a bonkers price, he's just not the solution imo

henke
Gameiro's a midget so if we're going to continue to punt the ball 70 yards to him while offering no support, we'll be even worse than last season.

sempuki
It is absolutely mental we have recruited JFK and now seemingly Mick fucking Harford only. The season starts in less than a month and a team that struggled to stay up is the only one in the league without a first team signing. If Ashley is not going to invest I think it is going to be difficult to stay up.

If he'd been in the team last year, playing a few games, getting some goals, then fair enough, you'd have a good argument. But not now. It's no one else's fault Villa paid far too much for him. TRon
I don't know why we are being linked with so many foreign footballers when the recruiting hierarchy is rolling back the years to 1990 and long ball mania.

Rather ironic that the long ball started before Kinnear was appointed the DOF. Got to love Pards eh

Klaus
If we got him for 6-8m and he scored 15-20 goals a season for 2/3 seasons for us it would be a good purchase imo.

alexf
I feel like they just need to get someone signed just to put minds at rest that they can actually sign players and they're not a bunch of blithering idiots. Kemen doesn't count as it was probably set up a long time ago.
Mole_Toonfan
Wouldn't be so bothered about Cisse going if Cardozo or Gameiro replaced him. If Cisse goes then we need 2 strikers plus a winger to compensate. Like for example i have heard we are after Gomis and Remy, i'd be ok with Cisse going if those two came in plus a winger. If Cisse stays i'd be ok with just one striker and a winger. One striker isn't going to cut it if Cisse leaves, 2 minimum.
