Ikon
I really want him to start against Southampton instead of Tiote, his vision and passing is superior to Tiote's. Releases the ball much quicker which gives us an advantage and better space and time for the player that receives the ball from him. I think by playing him Cabaye would naturally not end up too deep. Want Cabaye where he was against Chelsea, dictating the play and tempo with Sissoko dragging the opposition out of position with HBA and Gouffran as well. Tiote's one or two extra seconds holding on to the ball makes a very big difference to our fluidity.

Imagine our passing and move with him, Cabaye, Moussa, Hatem and Gouffran in midfield. Not even fair.
AyeDubbleYoo
Gouffran is nothing like Obertan. He looks a bit like him from a distance, that's all I meant.
The College Dropout
Cabaye/Tiote has always been effective offensively and defensively. I'd be more confident of a clean-sheet with Tiote in the side and i'm confident we'll score regardless as much as I like Anita.
Ikon
Personally i think the Cabaye/Tiote partnership has been a bit overrated.
LRD
Personally i think the Cabaye/Tiote partnership has been a bit overrated. As a midfield two, Nolan/Tiote saw arguably more effective results.
The College Dropout
Look at the results. Speaks volumes. Cabs does more donkey work without Tiote, Tiote does.... sigh.. Tiote tries too much without Cabs.
Beren
Personally i think the Cabaye/Tiote partnership has been a bit overrated. Disagree - I think they both look happiest playing their football together (not that their happiness is the be all, end all but you know what I mean, I hope). Mole_Toonfan
Cabaye and Tiote was an always an immense partnership defensively, the problem we always had that there was no link man between them and the striker. Now we have Sissoko
arnonel
1) Get new puppy (Tiote) - Love puppy - Puppy is great. Puppy gets old. Dont love puppy 2) Get new puppy (Anita) - Love puppy - Puppy is better than old Puppy

Yorkie
Well, no. 'Puppy gets old' would be better described as 'puppy pisses itself and dies'.

Ikon
As a midfield two in a 4-4-2 that we've played most times apart from a shorter run last season they've been good and solid, but not much more imo. And in the new setup now considering Tiote's form and dwelling on the ball i don't think it's odd to prefer Anita instead, especially at home and against the 'lesser' teams. STM
Nolan/Tiote was a good partnership but it was set up that was much different, a one more suitable to Pardews style too. Anita is the most rounded midfielder we have, sadly this means his versatility is his strength. Suprised Pardew isn't shoehorning him in all over actually... I probably would TBH. Much better option than Jonas, in all ways.

AyeDubbleYoo
As much as I rate Anita I wouldn't have a problem with Tiote/Cabaye for now, providing Tiote can recover some sort of form.
Ronaldo
I love Anita to step up because Tiote isn't the long term answer.

Not much about the debate is long term mind, long term Tiote might get back to his best. We still don't know what his best is. There's a lot suggesting that his brilliant first season was the result of us being a newly promoted side and up against it every week with an extremely attack-minded player next to him. And with Alan Smith as his deputy.
The College Dropout
I reckon some of these posts will be made to look stupid over the next few months. Then again, people are moaning non-stop about the yellow cards which has and always will be a feature of his game.
The College Dropout
People are also claiming last season he was average. When pretty much everyone in the squad had solid to excellent seasons. So there's definite swing in general popularity. He shots from outside the box once or twice and people start crying.
