At the minute, though, he's not looking like a player who can recycle the ball quickly and retain possession. He gets closed down and outmuscled far, far too easily. Now he's seemingly back to square one. He did, and again playing slightly further forward for a spell. Hopefully it's just been down to his stop start involvement this year. As well as not cementing a position. Before anyone blames this on Pardew, consider how many of you wanted him played at fullback today in the pre match thread. His confidence is low but it can be easily fixed if he can get few successes. Confidence is a weird thing. We heavily rely on individuals to play and hold on the ball, Anita might be suited to a more pass and move team which is more dominant in possession and progressive. Anita is useless when it comes down to physical battling and individual skill, he is much more of a team player which in my opinion will ever do well under Pardew since we don't play as one. Imo he is much suited to attacking teams and will bring much more to a team that plays attacking rather than containing/defending. Think a run in the right back spot might be a better position for him, as long we play rubbish contain football you will only ever get to see his running around like a headless chicken. In a team like ours even gosling or Bibi will do a better job. We are a traditional route 1 english team that is shit at set pieces, not a continental sexy carpet football team. Personally feel that he can still be worked into the line up but the style of play needs to be changed. Firstly we need to play 4-3-3 and he needs be the one infront of the back 4 and then have 2 in front of him ( preferably Cabaye and Sissoko) I don't believe we can get consistent performances from him in a 4-2-3-1 i know the differences are not massively different on paper but i believe it would effect him a lot in reality. Lovely footballer but doesn't really fit into how we set up as of now, its been said before but how Leon Britton plays for Swansea he could do easily and with Cabaye and Sissoko in front of him instead of De Guzman and Ki. Me too, I really like his style of play and I hate the cliche about the physical nature of the English game, but I fear there is a bit of truth to it. He can't complete against quite a lot of CMs in the league. Support from Cabaye and Sissoko might mitigate that a bit, but it's still a concern.
