We didn't hoof it, we haven't hoofed it for a good while now.  Aside from when the ball goes to Williamshit.

We simply didn't play.  Either the players don't have the confidence to move or they we encouraged to keep their shape.

When we are have the ball, no players move forward or into space in any hurry to receive the ball.

That is the story of our entire season.

It's so rigid isn't it, the lack of movement of any purpose makes us look even worse. Well at home to Reading, no excuses for him now.

The thing that gets me the most is, to impose some sort of movement and passing and little urgency, it doesn't require great technical players to achieve this.  It isn't rocket science.

Surprised he's getting so much grief after an away draw in such tricky circumstances.

Next week is huge mind.

The football is dire mate, absolutely rotten. Last season we could say 'yeah but it's getting results, he's making us hard to beat and we'll push on from there'. The way we started this season was enough to tell me that there was never the intention to move on from there, he only knows keep it tight and nick one football.

He's getting stick because of the football, when you consider the talent we've got in some areas, we're an absolutely awful team.

I do think Pardew's getting a bit of easy ride of it in the media and from the stands, to be honest. I don't want him sacked yet but frankly the job he's doing this season would warrant it and then some if he hadn't done such a good job in his first 18 months here.

That said, it's misleading to suggest the talent we have at our disposal should guarantee an on-field return in proportion to that talent. We've got absolutely nothing apart from Cisse from an attacking perspective and the midfielders we have are horribly unsuited to filling the void.

It'll change in the stands if we so shite next week v Reading IMO.

I didn't see the game today, and as shit as Norwich apparently were, I can understand setting up for a point. We needed to stop the rot today, desperately. You've got to hope the clean sheet will give us some confidence.

EDIT: And having Cabaye (and even Gutierrez, out of form or not he's a senior player I guess) back can only help. Hopefully Taylor will be back for Reading, although I bet Williamson keeps his place due to today's shutout.

Do you think you would still understand it had we lost? Results obviously have an almost holistic influence on our opinions after a match, but I'm almost always against what I see as Pardew's way of playing for a draw. If he told me that Man United and Arsenal away were his way of playing for a draw in those situations then I'd probably say 'fair enough', but then  we won't take the same risks to score like we do against the bigger teams as we do against the smaller teams, for fear of being hit on the break, for me it's illogical.

At the start of this season there was a lot of talk about our firepower, and rightly so. At the time, it was thought that we'd play the front 3 of Ba, Cisse and Ben Arfa with Cabaye behin that were, at times, brilliant last season. Teams should have been fearful of those players, but instead they were played out of position and asked to put half of their energy into what I think Pardew sees as being accountable, not going AWOL etc, but in an attacking sense I see as being unpredictable to the opposition and creative. No one is scared of them anymore imo. Not because they aren't capable, but because they're not being allowed to show what they're capable of. I've used this analogy loads, but the way Cabaye and even Cisse have have been used this season, it's like hiring artists to emulsion your walls. Aye, they can do it, but what the fuck is the point?

I think there's an element of truth in that for sure, I would have taken a 0-0 before kickoff fwiw as I think today was just about not losing the game. Whilst we looked pretty good going forwards in those two away defeats at Old Trafford and the Emirates, we looked dodgy as fuck in defence and that's probably the biggest concern, shipping 4 and then 7 goals away from home (and then losing a home game) will have shattered the confidence of the team, particularly the defenders, and a 'keep it tight' away draw might help restore that.

Who knows, if we'd set up like the aforementioned games we might have ran away comfortable winners today. It's hard to say.

Got to agree also.

The football wasn't great for much of last season but it was masked by good results.  imo he's yet to utilise the talents of Cabaye and especially Ben Arfa.

and Marveaux and Cisse and Santon and... even Obertan tbh.

I don't think Tiote consistently going backwards since Pardew has taken over is a coincidence either.

Game was there to be won today, but he bottled it - set us up for the point. I'm disturbed as to how lacking in ideas and attacking play we are, as well as the lack of incoming transfers. Nevermind fannying about saying we are in for '3 or 4' - get them feckin signed!

Given the circumstances this is the one time where I don't really blame him for setting us up for a point. We've been so open at the back recently conceding a flood of goals, we really needed not to get beaten yesterday. If we'd gone for it, left ourselves open and then conceded and lost it would have been a disaster the way things have been going. That said if he sets us up negatively at home against Reading or doesn't go for the kill against a Villa team almost on its knees then I'll be the first to come on here and slate him.

Umpteenth time in saying this - but this is what happens when you have non-football men running the club. :(

Horseplop. Citeh, Manure, Chelski, Ar*e all have non-football men running the club but they are all prepared to spend big. The rest like Reading Scumderland, Villa  have the same non-footballing men  but aren't aren't prepared to invest... same as Cashley. The game has changed.. it's now a business/billionaires playground.

Rubbish

They might have billionaire owners but they arent running the clubs they have the likes of Ivan Gazidis (arsenal) David Gill (manu) Daniel Levy (spurs) doing that, weve got a casino owner

I was quite happy with a point before yesterday until I saw how bad Norwich actually were. They look almost as bereft of confidence as us after losing 3 in a row before yesterday and they certainly had far less quality in their ranks. NowI'm wondering where our next win is coming from. I doubt we'll see many worse teams that them this season.

most people seemed happy with the team before the game. i didn't watched the game but caught the football first thing  aqnd it just seemed like there was a huge gap between cisse and the midfield, particularly marveaux as he was supposed to be the 'no 10', a role i don't think he can play to any great effect. strange how many on here see him in that role but i don't see him as a central player. imo he has to play wide in a 4 or as a 2 off a forward where a lot of the job is still to provide width.

I think to get a point, which most people would have been happy with before the game the team was fine. Two defensive midfielders, three if you count Gutierrez. It's only when you realise that Norwich themselves were looking like a poor team that you start wondering where the next win will come from. While we defended ok, the wide players were awful going forward and Marveaux spent as much time in his own half as the opposition's.
