Guest bimpy474
Thing is, if we're honest. Anita hasn't looked like a EPL holding midfielder, Marveaux hasn't looked like a player who can bother his arse for 90 mins and we've all seen Gouffran run out of puff after 70 mins. That's a downright lie, he's never played past 65 mins, Then it's Shola time
BrettNUFC
Pardew is tragic man. All these discussions are just reminding me about how annoying things are going to be this season. He just honestly doesn't know what he's doing, because imo he doesn't really believe in the players at his disposal. He literally knows nothing about them, and is incapable of appreciating what they are good at. This guy played Perch at DM ahead of Anita repeatedly last season. He continued to play Jonas ahead of Marveaux, even though Jonas was absolutely rotten, and contributed nothing to our forward play. Gouffran kept getting pulled early for Shola, who despite coming on at 60 mins looked more lethargic than everyone else on the pitch. It's just sad. Very very sad. Reading that and agreeing with every part (well maybe not 2nd para) makes me sad....and i'm backing him next season Top 8 is my prediction Pards will bounce back!....i hope! Dave
No chance will he want to win the cup this year, that would mean Europe again, and we all know what the cuntbag thinks of Europe. Good point. He hardly disrespected Europe? He gave it a good go in terms of team selections bar the first few opening games. He just liked the Europe excuse when our leagues results were damaged. I'm sure Laudrup will pop in the Europe factor excuse on multiple occasions down the line this season on the back of a loss following a Thursday night game. Just an easy thing to give the press, expected. Just seen your reply. All I can do is leave what I suspect both reefatoon and I were referring to. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2013/05/12/3974043/i-dont-care-if-arsenal-beat-us-4-0-pardew-elated-after-newcastle- I will make sure that we are well prepared for next season and thank God we are not in the Europa League again. Spudil
Perhaps things will pick up this season because Pardew earned his spurs last season by getting us over the line. Pardew with well earned spurs > Pardew.

Parky
I think he prefers the 4-2-3-1 because in his mind it's more defensively solid. You've got 2 DMs in there and the 3 tracking back behind the ball too. Unfortunately it leaves Cisse isolated up front and our side fairly toothless. If Jonas is one of the 3 then we have 8 out of 11 players whose primary role or quality is defence. If you play 4321 then the striker has to be like a bull or pacey...Cisse is neither. David28
Who knows, maybe we'll have that lucky lucky season with no injuries, no long cup runs, big teams who have an off day while playing us, little teams just playing like little teams against without those 10/10 goalkeeper performances and yes, that bit of magic and we'll end up in the top 5 again. Would be interesting how the forum would react. Return of Pardiola? Realistically, he's gone by November and we'll see Kinnear vs. Mourinho there the first day of the month. jdckelly
That's an unbelievable quote from Pardew tbh I'm not so sure its all that uncommon a view among managers and owners in England, few sides have ever bothered to take it seriously, its just perceived as getting in the way since it doesn't have the financial rewards to really make it worthwhile see also cups; FA and League

Guest bimpy474
The Pardew on tactics bit at the bottom. That's sounds just like Souness when he was here. Yes we need to create more chances, but a formation that frees up your better players is vital. Forget 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 !!. We can't Alan because whatever one you use, it's so defensive we fail to create the more chances you say we need to. One is negating the other you plank. Ste
Whatever formation we play, the lack of cohesion and movement will be evident and the end result is the same. Long balls to a front man with little support.

As Bimpy said, Gouffran never played past the 70 minute mark.
Mole_Toonfan
Create more chances and score more goals? Might help if you let the team play higher up the pitch and not allow the main striker to be isolated 24/7. When Cisse arrived at the club it wasn't just the 4-3-3 that keeps getting mentioned it was the mindset the team had and how many players we had forward when in possession. Cisse constantly scored goals because he consistently had Ben Arfa, Ba and Cabaye within 10 yards of him giving him passes in and around the box. For some reason Pardew went away from it as soon as we lost a game. We actually have better players now, but unfortunately we have a manager who is scared of his own shadow and won't allow them to get forward in numbers to score goals. Gouffran fades badly, but not enough to warrant his lack of minutes compared to Jonas.
