Why would they sell their striker to West Ham who is their relegation rivals?

Their squad is full, they need to sell to buy, they'll get more for him now than they will in the summer, he's got a gammy shoulder and is generally quite injury prone, they play one up and it seems Altidore is Poyet's first choice.

Which surely makes it less likely that West Ham would go for him, especially since they already have Carroll on their books, who hasn't played (much/at all) since joining them permanently.

Yes because West Ham exercise caution in all of their deals. Allardyce is the 13th best paid manager in the world ffs, everything they do is short term. If Fletcher scores a handful of goals and wins them a couple of games he'll have been worth the money.

Say what you like about the mad fascist b*stard, but he's pretty much nailed Captain Buckfast there.

Mackem mate just been bemoaning the fact that they haven't scored a goal away from home since August - had to check, but it is actually true!

Just double checked, last away goal 31st August 2013

These cunts have been drawn at home in every cup tie so far this season as well.  Even their LC semi v Man Utd they were the first team out of the bag.  Nee luck marra.
