Interpolic
I'd rather have Lovenkrands back than Bent. Jokes, bro. Hey, he puts in a good shift. Plays consistently in any role you put him in. Can play with anyone. Doesn't need to be in a lone striker role to be effective. He was admittedly excellent in every position (and every game) he played in for us, but I dunno mate, I just prefer Darren Bent.

TRon
Interesting read http://www.whoscored.com/Blog/o5gky6x4q060phhhoefzda/Show/Team-Focus-Bent-Has-the-Better-of-Newcastles-French-Fancies It's a good read, I always thought that Bent gets far too much undeserved flak on here, but really I think Gomis will be a better fit for our team. Teasy
"While on face value from last season the Lyon forward may have seemed to be the right target, a look further back into the finishing figures suggests Gomis is not the man for the job of restoring success at St. James' Park." This ignores the idea that players can improve. For his last two seasons his goal scoring has been quite consistent at 1 in 2 starts or slightly better. AyeDubbleYoo
The main issue is which one fits better into our squad... I don't really dislike Bent as an individual but without a doubt it's Gomis.
geordie_b
"It's clear then that if Newcastle are after a player of the same ilk of their current leading man that Darren Bent is the most obvious choice." And thats the reason why Bent isnt the answer

Cajun
Can't see us getting all 3 unless Cisse is going. It does seem a bit excessive, especially as we could get a pretty decent winger for the price Bent would cost.
Stuy_O
Defiantly reckon Bent want's to play for Pardew again and we're his preferred move. Seems odd we'd go back in after what seemed to be such a farcical initial approach.

Mole_Toonfan
Chronicle and Journal saying were back in for Bent We'll pull out immediately once we get both Gomis and Remy I guess. I agree which makes it sound like he's a back up to them. I really wish we would have back ups who represent the same style of player as our preferred targets. Dokko
If we are back in for him maybe our thinking is £4m ish transfer if possible is better than nearly £2m in a loan fee. Or Remy has other suitors.

If the reports are true, then it seems we might be back in for Bent because Remy hasn't committed yet, but I agree, he's not the same type of player at all. Really confused recruiting policy we seem to have.

Harewood did a good job for us in the Championship. Ha ha, I'd totally forgotten MFH as we knew him (Marlon Fucking Harewood) had played for you, too. Look on the bright side, at least you didn't pay £4m for him, when you had a team knocking on the door of a CL place, a team who just needed a decent striker.
