Varadi
His type of game, a really solid full back - even 1 on 1 against players like Sanchez and Martial you're never too worried he's going to get rinsed.
tinoasprilla
Not a fan but was good today and we are more solid with him in the team. His passing seems to have improved

The College Dropout
Felt he should've intercepted that first Martial chance. Other than that - solid as ever. Miles better than Manquillo and Mbemba at FB.

WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Said to my mate down at Palace last weekend, he fucking loves defending. If there's a slide tackle to be made, he's in there like a flash. The big shame is that he's still aaful going forward, which would mean ideally he'd be replaced for where we're hoping to be. Infinitely Content
Said to my mate down at Palace last weekend, he f***ing loves defending. If there's a slide tackle to be made, he's in there like a flash. The big shame is that he's still aaful going forward, which would mean ideally he'd be replaced for where we're hoping to be. I'm reluctant as to get a full back who can defend as well as Dummett and also attack would cost a fortune and would probably not be feasible for us. I think if he was replaced with more attacking player we would miss him massively. The solution may be to get a back up attacking left back to challenge Dummett but not to replace. Varadi
Our stats are always much better with him in the team - probably wouldn't have gone down last time if he hadn't got injured.
Benwell Lad
He's definitely Rafa's man, one of the first names on the team sheet.

I agree with this 100%. For a team battling relegation, clean sheets and low conceding is massive. The last time I think we tried the Ginger one and the big booty one at LB and they cost us goals. steve_69
He was brilliant yesterday. He was. He's the only one who doesn't seem to have been singled out for his individual performance but I think it was arguably his best ever game for us. Benwell Lad
The list of big name, big reputation forwards who get very little change out of the unspectacular Dummet continues to grow.
thenige
Has been spot on since he returned from injury. Always committed, defensively solid and while is lacking in quality in some areas, his crossing (from albeit a relatively small sample) has seemed a bit improved. His strengths suit the type of football we're playing and the way we're currently set up. Will be his curse that the better the team get, the more at risk he'll be from an 'upgrade'. pinkeye
I have to give credit where it is due. I have been a huge critic of Dummett in previous seasons as well as this season. I cringe at how uncomfortable he is on the ball and how quickly he looks to relieve himself of it but, I cannot deny that his defending skills and ability to put in a good clean yet solid tackle are very good. He isn't winning me completely over but, I am less likely to moan about his name on the team sheet currently. The team is much improved with him in it. steve_69
Having a solid, defensive fullback is much better than have a defensively suspect fullback with better attacking qualities in our current situation. Those fullbacks than possess both positive attributes tend to cost more money than we're ever likely to pay, so for now he'll do for me.
Cookie1892
How about we all get behind the lad now and support him? Confidence and belief in him will go a massively long way to ensuring he improves as we improve He has been solid for a long time not just since returning from injury, he has a decent turn of pace and is a cracking defender. Plus he is a local lad and we should support him for it i think the last one we fully got behind was Andy Carroll so howay
Infinitely Content
He deserves full backing like, he's earned it the hard way through performances. I and many others have been massive critics of him in the past but he's well and truly turned it around this season & last.

I think its absolutely shocking that any player in any starting line-up in the Premier League is allowed to have so poor control of the ball, but on his current form it's hard to justify leaving him out as he has been very solid defensively which is what we have needed more. Hanshithispantz
I’ve honestly never understood the stick he gets like (on the ball I do aye). He made a couple of mistakes last season and people were using it to score points in some odd claim he’s a bad defender. He’s always been solid and has never looked out of place defensively in this league.
