Who're we signing today, then?

It wouldnt surprise me if we were done now.

I would hope not because if that's the case we still have not replaced the players who have left and only roughly spent the money from Cabaye and Debuchy also. Need anothwer striker and a quality centre half at a minimum.

Though the journalists said talks underway for a big money striker?

Think they said "if we sign a big-money striker". Don't think we will, like.

Some have stated that talks have begun for another striker.

This is correct

Are there any realistic options as a "big money striker"? I can't see us spending more than 10 Million on someone, perhaps 12 million at the most.. Just under what it would take to get someone like Lacazette, PEA, or even Remy.. If you look around the 'top 5' leagues there don't seem to be many great options. In our market these days 10 million would buy someone like Jordan Rhodes.. not the worst idea but far from the guaranteed goal scorer that we are looking for..

Has anyone posted a Shola smilie yet? I really think it would be funny if that was posted.

The only way I can see us bringing in a big name striker is either on loan or someone like Darren Bent who won't cost that much but still has a record of scoring goals in the premier. We have to factor in our overall goal which is primarily to finish between 8th and 12th approx. Start adding quality strikers or CB's to what we've already signed and we'd be in danger of qualifying for Europe at the cost of at least £20m in fees and wages.

Guest chopey

I'm over the moon with the signings and if we could keep barfa and get a proven goalscorer and centre back I would be even happier.

And if pardew fell down that big hole in Siberia that would really make my year.

Would people be happy with Vlaar for 4m? Seems like a bargain to me, but I may be overreacting to WC performance.

Why on earth would he be available for as little as 4m? Even if his contract is winding down. 29, Club captain and great work cup showings. Double that for starters.

Wish we were in for some of the CB's moving clubs this summer. Caulker would have been decent. Our CB's (especially when MYM leaves) are to put it bluntly, terrible. We're going to concede buckets of goals this season, especially from corners. Need central defensive reinforcements badly.
