Alderweireld is a good footballer, but he's a bit weak and not too aggressive. Simeone hasn't used him much.

He's also of that weird Belgian centreback stock that seems better going forward than actually defending.

Agree with above... can someone inform Pardle/Ashley that there is a six foot four defensive machine playing football about 150 miles north of SJP available at a decent price?

Our main problem is Pardews inability to organise the defence, no matter who we have.

Would be nice to have some better quality than the shit we have though.

i don't necessarily agree, he's shown in the past he can organise a defence but the problem is that he can't do it at the same time as getting the team to transition effectively between attack and defence

so in effect it's either all defence or some attack and chaos at the back

Our defending won't improve no matter how good defenders we bring in as long as Pardew is in charge! We need a new manager ASAP and preferably someone who understand the basic principles of a game called football!

Thus his best tactics is counter attack against strong teams

Is he really good enough to justify his fee increasing so much within 1 year?  Brings back terrible memories of the Boumsong signing

a bit slightly off topic but wasn;t there an investigation into the signings of Boumsong and Faye, did anything ever come of it?

Newcastle rejected yet again for Alexandre Lacazette

According to our colleagues at Le Progres, Newcastle United have had yet another approach for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette rejected.

Lyon President has told all clubs that the player is not for sale.

The importance of having a proper striker as a figurehead couldn't be more emphasised than the acquisition of Balotelli by Liverpool. They look much better for having a proper front man who Sturridge and Sterling can play off. Our failure to buy a proper striker will cost us big time, and we've already dropped 4 points as a result. This is why the stingy approach to buying players and hiring shit managers does not deserve our support. May the poor results continue
