Tbh, Valdes might be the difference that will give us at least a chance to stay up, so it's not completely out of the question. Every time we have looked like we're going down, we have invested, it could happen again.

I think we will do the usual of let's give big rob a chance who will play decent for a few games and then be turboshit for the next 10 matches then we will panic but it will be too late

Wide Rob will get injured soon but they won't see it.

are we allowed to sign/loan a new keeper in this situation...im not familiar with the rules.

Valdez sounds like a great option (if allowed)

No. We had the same farce last season with Alnwick plus selected the full 25 man Pl squad so he could only come in Jan. Also brings other issues for anyone expecting us to sign 3/4 players as we will no doubt only do 1 in 1 out so as not to waste wages on ineligible players

In other words - we´re doomed!

Unless someone comes in for Cisse/Tiote/Gouff/Williamson etc we will no doubt get 1/2 in with zero PL experience but they were nearly free so thats all that matters.

We also didn't add anywhere near enough players. Most of us were saying before the window that we needed around six first team players, we got three (if you subtract Cabella).

Not to mention Santon/MYM not being replaced either

January should be busy.

Quality goalkeeper [not going to happen with Elliott, Darlow & Woodman on the books]

RB backup [not going to happen]

Experienced CB [may get a Matip/NKoulu if deemed a bargain]

Experienced DCM [possible but unlikely unless a foreign bargain]

Quality Striker [can see us selling Cisse so probably the most likely option and even them Austin looks unlikely so 'quality' would be pushing it]

Newcastle United have held their first transfer summit ahead of the January window, and they'll again target players whose contracts are nearly up

What a suprise

Some really good players ont hat list.

We just need to make sure we get players in the right areas firstly. And we need to improve our athleticism and pace.

I would like Matip, Badu Yarmolenko  and Campbell from that list.

A quality dcm who can protect the defence (alone) and who is good at passing the ball (forward fast) is probably what we need the most imo. (if everyone is fit)

IMO you need 2 players that can do both. Not just one. Matic did it for awhile but couldn't maintain it. You need 2 proper CM's in this division.

I really hate the idea of playing purely defensive midfielders. What you want is two players in there that bring different strengths to the table from an attacking and defensive perspective. Speed and Dyer was perfect.
