Gallowgate End
Mourinho’s style would struggle to win trophies in today’s PL and domestic cups imo. I do not think football has changed this drastically in the four years since he last won the PL and domestic cup. You’ve got to play Pochettino football to win trophies these days.... Ameritoon
There's like 10 clubs per season across the big European leagues who even have a chance of winning anything beyond a domestic cup. Basing managers' quality, especially young managers, on trophies is stupid.

Segun Oluwaniyi
In the same way that Giovanni Trappattoni or Fabio Capello are serial winners. The game left him behind I just do not see the evidence of this or understand when people say it. His Man U team was average in terms of talent and he led them to decent results. It was a failure by his standard, but this will eventually happen when you manage at five different clubs over the course of 15+ years. How are you comparing him to men in their 70s and 80s who have not managed at club level in more than a decade?

Astroblack
What a prick job Levy is. Gave him all those top four finishes, a few cup finals and did it on a barely any money. They spent nothing last year. Did all this happen because Vertonghen got off with Eriksen's wife?
jdckelly
They have sacked a manager who hasn't won a trophy for a serial winner yet people are mocking the appointment while I partly agree on paper there is several caveats, no 1 being mourinhio who likes to spend money and daniel levy who does not like to spend money is a pr disaster waiting to happen, no 2 poch turned spurs from occasionally a champions league team into a consistent top 4 side and got them to the CL final last year all while not having the resources in transfer fees and wages that everyone around spurs have which is unlikely to change with the stadium to pay for and levy being fairly tight in general

Guest chopey
I remember when Newcastle United used to make decisions like this because we were madly chasing the dream of some sort of success, these days we chase 17th as cheap as possible with the ambition of survival. Guest
It’s like Keegan to Dalglish. They might improve the rest of the season and finish top 5 or 6 when they were in real danger of it not happening, but it’ll be interesting to see what he does when some of the big players leave this summer. Froggy
That was fast. Obviously mooching behind Pochettinos back to make sure they could get Jose before turfing him out. Poch > Mourinho.
Pandamninator
Timing makes sense now, decided to turf Potch at the start of the break, but took them 10 days to haggle it out with Jose and Mendes.
