So not only has he not been fired, he's being allowed to spend money on himself, and feed his pathetic ego, because he believes he is as important as CEOs are, and therefore warrants a personal consultant. Can't he just crawl into a hole and shut up until his ban is over. The guy is absolutely shameless, and despicable. How can he not see that coming out and talking about his personal CEO consultant that he has acquired after headbutting someone, is fucking irritating and annoying. He's doing a sterling job as a bang average manager that's never goin to tear up any trees and dampen expectations to keep supporters in line, that's a main reason to keep him but I believe the debts have some credence too. Just how much of a debt has he racked up for Asley to 'have something over' him and force him to do his bidding? SanToon suggests 'several thousand pounds', but considering he's flush enough to drop £160,000 in a week just to get to nuzzle a Tiger, I suspect you might think it's more than that. How do you know that he is paying from his own pocket..? Wouldn't be at all surprised if Ashley was paying these fines by giving Pardew a 'bonus'....esp likely in the case of the 60,000. Mike 'splash the cash' Ashley dipping into his own pocket? I can't see it. How much would it cost him if he had to get rid of Pardew and hire a decent manager..? The same as it would for your boss to sack you for gross misconduct. No idea what Merlin's employment contract is worth but Pardew's has to be worth somewhere between 6 and 10 million pounds. Sack him for gross misconduct and he'd have top employment legal teams queuing up to represent him. And at that point it becomes a bit of a lottery. Ashley could easily have sacked him then took a chance on having to pay the compensation. If he really thought he was an incompetent manager he would have paid £6m just to be shot of him. My view is he knows he's a shite manager but as long as we buy enough quality players to keep us mid-table it doesn't really matter who is in charge as long as they are prepared to lick Ashley's rim. I don't like to say it, but you do wonder whether it's his pride that's getting in the way of him getting the right support. It sounds like a lowly counsellor on anger management isn't good enough, it has to be a management consultant. I think it was his ego that made it difficult for him to deal with a mere footballer with the right sort of restraint. There's a personal issue there, not a professional one.
