"League table don't lie" is a massive lie.

Over 38 games it doesn't lie. We're we the worst under Carver though.

We were plenty s*** before Carver as well, we were lucky as hell to stay up.

We were still half way up the league. Nowhere near the worst team in the league man.

Fair enough on Pogba like (though he wasn't a patch on Scholes at the time. Had he been more patient he'd have been a starter sooner rather than later).

Fergie played Cleverley, Anderson, Park and Giggs ahead of him. You played against Blackburn and Fergie played Rafael and Park as a midfield 2 ffs. There were ample opportunities for him to play matches and then Fergie instead brought Scholes out of retirement.

He then went to Juve and walked straight into a better midfield than yours, won 3 straight titles, got to a CL final and will get a move to Madrid or Barca. I'm sure he regrets not being more 'patient' until Park and Anderson moved aside for him.

Aye but fergie taught him a lesson innit

Is delph really that good? I have never being really that impressed when iv seen him play

Maybe different now when he's playing beside world class players

Not really, but he's a total bellend after all this. Thus the reaction to it all.

Villa are in trouble. Not because they have sold there two, (three if you include Vlaar), best players but because they have not improved.

If you don't go forward, other teams catch you up. That's why we are worried about signings.

Villa need to hope for two things, some good management (team spirit from Sherwood) and a couple of inspired signings. FWIW, I think Sherwood is capable of the former but I doubt Villa are capable of the latter.

Look at it this way Villa have to replace Vlaar, Delph, Benteke and Cleverley to break even. Then they need to improve.

We don't need to replace Vlaar to change much - last season he was either injured or shite.

We've brought in Richards and Gueye - who looked to me like a Delph replacement when he signed. We've still got a lot of signings to make, but our form under Sherwood was totally different to that under Lambert, and far more representative of the squad.

Going back to Vlaar, though, it makes me laugh when I hear the media or fans of other clubs go on about how we'll miss him. Ask Villa fans, you'll get a different story.

The problem for me with the Delph transfer, it is what it says about both the club and the player.

When he signed his new contract a few months ago, the club made a massive deal of it, absolutely wrung every last drop of publicity, had him do a big video thing which they showed on the screens at VP before the next match.

Then it turns out he's re-signed, yes, but with a pathetically low release fee (the same as we paid for him). Quite clearly, the whole thing was a case of "I'll sign a new deal to make sure you don't lose me for nothing" but with a really low release fee to make sure he could get a move.

Then they stick him in all the promo pics for the kit launch last week, then it turns out he's off to Man City.

That's the stuff that reflects badly on the club - fucking idiots to have made such a big deal out of the new contract and then the kit launch thing, too.

Then Delph, this time last week, comes out with all that shit about it being his club, how he's loyal etc, only to fuck off a week later.

That's the bit that reflects badly on Delph.

The really sad bit in all this is this is the sort of bollocks that goes on all the time in football, and as usual, the only people who really suffer are the fans who, unless they get bought by a mental human rights abusing middle east prince or a thieving Russian oligarch, are expected to keep forking out more and more money to watch this pointless, futile rubbish year after year.

Love Brummie me and I have a soft spot for Villa. But Delph, fucking hell man, what a cunt! I can see them struggling again.

Strikes me that Delph may have said to Sherwood - "Will we improve and will we keep Benteke?" to which he said "Yes and Yes". With Benteke gone, he may have thought "ah well, fuck it" and gone.

Fernando played over 30 games for them last season. I'd have Delph over him.

Different roles, not particularly sure i'd want Delph being the last line of defense in midfield and covering everything Yaya doesn't do defensively.
