The more I read and hear about Benitez, the more I'm convinced we've got the best man possible for the job.  Our job is seen as a bit of a poisoned chalice by some and that's bullshit.  Benitez clearly loves football so he shouldn't feel any pressure here as the job will not be a chore to him.  The best managers we've had here have passionately loved football, it was their lives and they thrived on it and Rafa is the same.

We've appointed a good person who none of us will dislike and he's brilliant at what he does because he takes his job seriously, his job is his life.  I still can't believe how lucky we've been to get him while at the same time understanding why we have.  He's going to love it here once he settles in and for once everybody connected to Newcastle United are heading in the same direction, the positivity is intoxicating.

We've got the perfect manager for our club actually at our club for the first time in years.

A great summing up Mick and I hope beyond hope that we are able to keep the guy happy at NUFC for the foreseeable future.

I am sure he WANTS to be a success, but as I said the other day, the club have left him a mountain to climb and then we have to depend on Ashley playing the game afterwards.

I too think Benitez COULD prove the best manager we have had in terms of possible trophy success, but he does need proper backing for the next few years.

If we got relegated Rafa would most likely leave , this base on his last interview. Doesn't matter, its going to be a thrilling 10 games and the bonus is if we do stay up it would even be more entrancing next season.

Benitez for the next few years!!!!!!!!, both parties have the option to abandon ship at the end of the season, wouldn't surprise me if he keeps us up, then Charnley ditches him and we bring in another cheap muppet.

This is, sadly, only too possible and my fear too.

Coloccini will be fit man. Funny how these miracles happen.

Taylor and Colo for the run in and we have a chance, provided Benitez can make them a unit. Left back is a massive concern.

Haidara is back soon judging from the training pics. Sort out his positioning and he'd be an asset, there's definitely potential there. If anyone could sort him it'd be Rafa/Rafa's coaching team

His interviews are so good man. The fact he took the Spanish question and relayed all the conversation back in English to everyone else probably impressed me as much as anything - as daft as it sounds. Shows he is intelligent, polite and professional.

He's subtly pulling everyone on board too instead of being too in your face with the whole Toon Army we need you pleas. Just saying he knows the fans will get behind them, almost as if it's expected. Therefore we have our obligation too almost. He's not saying that but that's how it feels. He is right though, for him it's a clean slate and he will want it that way.

Fuck me...even McClaren had people singing his name at first. Will be bouncing for Rafa.

Desperately hope we get a point at least vs Leicester because the Derby will be absolutely bouncing if we do.

Win that and we will be safe.

He's not got much to work with at the back even when fully fit but as it stands what options has he got?

Hope he doesn't risk anyone for Monday, would be nice to make a statement and get something but we've bigger games coming up.

Also if puts out a massively defensive team i wouldn't hold it against him. Think mentally not getting bummed or even picking up a point before the mackems would be huge.

It's not the back 4 that concerns me, it's the protection they don't get from midfield. Hoping Rafa finds a quick way to make us compact without the ball

Have to agree with you here, the back 4 aren't as bad as everyone thinks, the major problem is them being horribly exposed time after time, too many times players just ghost past our midfield and leave the defence out of position or chasing someone who's twice as fast as them. I reckon we have enough to be much better in that position so long as we're difficult to break down from the centre mid.

Aye, much rather see Lascelles get the nod, he's done well in a couple of games.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow St James' will be absolutely bouncing next Sunday because of this appointment and when it's like that we usually do well. West Ham last season was probably the last time it was like that straight from kick off and before that the 5-1 against the mackems when the crowd was just mental straight from the off and their players and fans sh*t themselves leading to their supporters abandoning their team at half time and their players being desperate to get off the pitch. We need the same next week and we'll be fine.

These next 10 games could determine weather were just going to be the same newcastle we've been under ashley since his arrival. Or the hope it could be everything we want it to be. Under mccalren i was dreading it, but now i cant wait to get them started. make or break
