STM
McClaren's grin is next to the word untenable in the dictionary.
Figures 1-0 Football
Surely the LMA will go mental if we actively meet another manager without sacking McClaren. Could get messy. Not if McClaren is aware of the situation and is just effectively being a 'caretaker' until Rafa comes in - which I think is the current situation
cp40
the picture of SMC leaving with the smile removed from his face- might actually have been when he found out he could end up staying.
mighty__mag
Genuinely got no idea why McClaren is still here. It's not like he can just carry on if this Benitez thing f***s up They leave him as head coach, employ Raffa as manager, and tell him he can hire and fire so Raffa does Charnleys job for him. Pussy. Darth Crooks
Should get used to being a caretaker. Be lucky if gets a gig coaching at my local primary between fishing chuddy out the pissers.
SUPERTOON
Edwards seems desperate to keep Moyes name in the frame after the article he wrote at the weekend saying he was the one we wanted and that Moyes wanted to come. The article itself doesn't really say anything we didn't already know, although i would be surprised if Benitez was coming here for face to face talks if all the major issues i.e. being in charge of transfers wasn't already sorted. relámpago blanco
I wonder how much money they've promised him. It would be interesting if we gave him 80 Million because to be honest if you strengthen the right areas ( 2 CB's, LB, a creative Winger, Holding Mid and a striker) we would have an extremely solid platform. We have to stay up though which is a massive if.
Village Idiot
So what's the word in Spain VI, is this pretty much a done deal or what? Last update this afternoon from As (who broke the news this morning that it was nearly done) is that talks are still ongoing, and that the holdup is that apparently Benítez demands significant transfer investment since his aim is to transform NUFC into a PL top team again. Note that Balagué writes for As, so I give them some credit when reporting about Benítez.

Ketsbaia
The board already spoke about heavy investment. Last summer they were talking about the next three transfer windows. So hopefully thats not a big issue.
Figures 1-0 Football
Stop worrying lads, tomorrow will just be a quick sign off and all completed. By 3pm we'll all be sat drinking cocktails wanking over Benitez. The deal would be dead by now if it wasn't going to happen.

Any idea on the figures he is asking for, hopefully he is being ambitious but realistic at the same time, similar investment from our last two windows coupled with Benitez actually being a good manger would work well. No specifics, sorry. Our ITK shows start later in the evening, there should be some stuff in there (the 3 year contract thing was reported in one of those last night), but I'd take those with a grain of salt... 1964
If we are in the Championship I doubt the investment will be heavy
KaKa
With the money coming in the summer, we really should be able to promise the guy a decent amount of money going forward, should we stay up. Seems we already had plans to invest anyway. Juts stop letting Charnley and Carr call all the shots on that front.
B-more Mag
It just stinks of so many transfer window failures under this regime. Feed press info about target; press beats the drum; looks like deal is happening; word gets out that very substantial parts of the deal haven't been discussed or agreed upon; deal doesn't happen; club says nothing or trots out the line that these deals take time and are hard to do; we all remember everything is horrible forever. Sounds cynical, but based on past history I don't think it's reasonable to trust the club had this all sorted and signing is just a formality. Hopefully this is the exception that proves the rule. B-more Mag
Also, the club not saying any fucking thing about anything ever, doesn't help. I get that they're constrained in what they can say about particular deals, but at least fucking say something about recognizing the precariousness of the club's position and working on pursuing options for changing it. Deuce
his aim is to transform NUFC into a PL top team again. Ashley should have realized years ago that he stands to make far more money and give SD much more exposure if he actually puts out a competitive fucking team. Stop me before I turn into Kaka.
