So was there a lap of honour or did they leave?

Players gathered in the centre circle, milled around and clapped the crowd. Rafa came on to cheers, clapped the Crowd non-stop Rafa chants, which turned into steady claps, then 'we want you to stay'. Janmaat cut a troubled figure, squatting down staring into the crowd with his hand on his mouth, seemed overwhelmed to see the level of support and positivity after the players had let us down so badly.

Think Janmaat's quite an emotional guy, that's why his head went so quickly with the frustration.

Annoying how many are saying we just needed to have beaten Villa. Apart from the fact it clearly doesn't work like that, we'd have gone down on goal difference anyway.

Lots of Newcastle fans stayed back, Spurs end already empty. Thanks for that. It's amazing what a win can do, eh?

I think Janmaat gets unfair stick on here. He's been shit lately admittedly but that's not due to to lack of effort, he's just not a great defender. For most of this season he drove the team forward from right back and created chances when nobody else was

Maybe they meant the de Jong missed header earlier in the season. Seriously though, there's loads of "if only" moments from this season. The main one being "If only Charnley had sacked McClaren as soon as Rafa became available".

Sad and frustrating, but uplifting all the same. At least we went down fighting. Literally in Mitro's case.

The more annoying thing for me is what might have happened if Everton sacked their manager a week earlier. Absolutely everything went perfectly for the mackems in the run in.

He's had a couple of red cards that you could see coming a mile away, I've never rated him as highly as others because defensively he's shocking and he doesn't have the brains to compensate for that either.

Yep. We just needed to have beaten Sunderland at home.

Or Chelsea managed to hang on to either of their leads against them.

A little thought for all those Spurs fans who a month ago were getting tickets in the home end for their title party. :yao:

Couldn't beat villa but do the double over spurs. Obviously.

The f***ing arseholes.

Motivation is key in football, McClaren couldn't motivate them and that was clear from early on.
